Saladin has been around Cowboys boards for a long, long time, and he is not one to post something irresponsibly.

Thanks jcblanco, but I'm sure that the others where just being cautious. Here's some more info.

CBS) LOS ANGELES Two people -- including former professional football player Darrell Russell, 29 -- died today after their speeding car went out of control, sheared off a fire hydrant, then slammed into a parked bus.

The accident on southbound La Cienega Boulevard occurred near Sawyer Street just after 6 a.m., according to Ron Myers of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

Paramedics worked for about 25 minutes to free the men from the wreckage of a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix, he said. Both were taken to hospitals in critical condition.

The driver, taken to UCLA Medical Center in full cardiac arrest, was pronounced dead shortly after arrival, but has not yet been identified. Russell, the passenger, was pronounced dead at Cedars- Sinai Medical Center.

The car left a roughly 50-yard path of destruction before it smashed into the bus.

The Grand Prix apparently hit a curb, then ran over the hydrant and knocked over several news racks before striking Metro Rapid bus No. 717, which was out of service with its flashers on. The driver was standing outside the bus when the accident occurred.

The car may have been racing another vehicle before the accident, according to an MTA spokesman.

La Cienega Boulevard, between Sawyer and 18th streets, was closed for more than three hours to accommodate the investigation and Department of Water and Power crews, who shut off the flow of water.

While his death is certainly tragic, I unfortunately cannot see Russell's name without thinking of his participation in that gang rape of the girl a few years back, where he and a group of his buddies drugged her at a club and then took their turns. His drug problems were unfortunate too, but those he brought onto himself. What he participated in against a defenseless woman was beyond heinous.

Man, a Pontiac Grand Prix? He really has fallen from the ranks of millionaire NFL players.

Drugs was his gold digger...
...play in a superbowl and drive off in a Grand Prix.

I remember during Russell's rookie year (I think) and the Raiders came down to Dallas. He destroyed Nate Newton in a way I didn't think existed. Russell was in the backfield more than Moose.

I thought Russell was a surefire Hall of Famer after that game.
