OT - The Fake Roy Williams (Detroit WR)...

Detroit's WR Roy Williams is apparently going by "Roy E. Williams" now. Most of you probably couldn't (and shouldn't) care less, but I think it's pretty sweet.

Hopefully now I can talk about Roy Williams without people asking, "Wait, which one?" from now on. That frickin' imposter... :|

Here's how I found out...

Yes, Williams, the receiver, was awesome in high school at Mojo and awesome at UT. For those of us who played high school football in West Texas, he is a shining example of toughness and determination.

When someone on this board mentions Roy Williams, I always assume we are talking about the Roy Williams that plays safety for the Cowboys...because frankly, I couldn't care less about another Detroit Lion receiver that hasn't lived up to his hype.

That may be true if you're not a Detroit fan, but he's the most popular player among Lions fans and the only real weapon on offense they have. I think he's done well there.

Then I assume that a Detroit Lion fan won't be confused when on a Lion forum someone say something about a Lion receiver named Roy Williams.

I'm sure they don't think of a safety for the Cowboys when the game announcers says "Starting at receiver for the Detroit Lions, from the University of Texas...Roy Williams" And I doubt they will start addressing him as Roy "E" Williams either.

But then again, we are talking about Lion fans aren't we...

how exactly has he not lived up to the hype? he is their best player and one of the best young receivers in the league!!! i woulnt go as far as to say id rather have him than the hammer, but in a couple of years i think a lot of people would do that trade. Dont forget that it takes longer for a wide receiver to develop than a safety, just look at TO. And dont forget it doesnt help him that all his quarterbacks are hidious!!!! im hoping once he becomes a free agent he will sign with us!!!! now how many of you can honestly say you WOULDNT want the "other" roy williams?!?!?!?!

I think that Roy E. is a great reciever with even more potential.. I wouldn't call him a bust either, he has been very productive when he can stay healthy.. but there is NO WAY I would trade him for Roy..

The problem he has is simple, he can't stay healthy and apperantly misses time with every small nick or allows it to effect his game too much. As of right now hes someone who you can think of as a pretty decent #2, maybe he can be more but right now we just flat out don't know.

Nothing personal about him...hey, he's probably been one of bright spots for the Lions in resent years, but what he has accomplished and his hype do not match. Now whehter that's his fault (I don't think it really is) or just that he hasn't lived up to someones expectations are totally different things.

Never the less, I still don't care whether or not he wants to be Roy "E" or just Roy.

Where does it say that Roy Williams says HE wants to be called Roy E Williams? Looks to me like the guy that wrote the article just through the E in there himself.
