I'm a diehard Saints fan and I'm telling you this guy isn't really as good as advertisted. He's only being thought of so highly because he went to USC
Ok...thanks.

Great! Someone can pay us big to get him at 9.:D

Fairley, Dareus, Peterson, Prince, and Miller are all a lot better prospects than Smith. They all have the elite athleticism at their own positions like Smith, just with more proven on field performance. Now its debatable whether any of them will be there at 9, but if any one of them are there, theres no question they would be a better pick than Smith.

All of those players have questions about them too. Fairly-one year wonder, work ethic not good, Peterson not technically sound, Prince, not fast enough (straight line speed). I mean nobody is a sure thing in this draft. I'll take Smith at #9. Need to protect Romo especially with the weapons that we have-Austin, Bryant, Jones, Witten.

I think if Tyron Smith's draft stock keeps rising, by draft time he could go to either the Billls at #3, Cardinals at #5, or Browns at #6 before the Cowboys pick. Not to mention a possible tradeup by Wahsington, Minnesota, or Detroit.

Especially don't count out Buffalo at #3. They've been known to reach for players in the past and they have needs at both tackle spots. Remember when they took Donte Whitner S from Ohio State in the top 10?

Agree. There's been a few head scratchers in the past from other teams as well, guys like Tyson Jackson going 3rd overall mainly because of pre-draft hype. Even Ware was essentially unheard of until a week before the draft.

If a team like Buffalo thinks he can play LT, then they might take a chance on him. The lack of typical top prospects in this draft could drive Smith's stock way up. I see only three top guys that teams will be sold on completely-Peterson, Dareus and Green.

You see the cieling is through the roof on all these guys and add Quinn to the list. So which player is the safest bet becomes the critical question.

While Peterson, Quinn and Bowers look like potential freaks on the D, Tyron Smith addresses a more important glaring need on the Offense, he looks like the safer pick, plus his attitude is positive, then he's known as a hard worker.

I think a slow mahler RT is a thing in the past with how the DE/OLB is changing........speed and quickness is more important.

Add that with the fact that he can play LT........2 swing tackles is something to is very good with the way players constantly get injured

I personally still like the Mauling RT, however you do bring up a good point in that both starting tackles should have the ability to play either side. We know Free can...I imagine Smith can as well in time. I'm still a Carimi fan...a younger more athletic Columbo in many ways. I do think he could play LT if needed.

Good point about the versatility needed in todays game though.

this is so mirroring Winston Justice's rise up the boards ... of course Justice was rising in Kiper and everyone's minds and ended up going in the 2nd. I doubt the same happens with Smith ... but it is hard to overlook the similarities

I hope someone snatches him up before us. I have no problems with him as a prospect, but just not at #9. Hes not enough of a sure thing, and drafting anybody to play RT at #9 with a right handed QB is an overdraft.

I see why you've only posted 165 times :D
