Tony Romo: Garrett is not concerned about the quarterback's back and forth with the NFL over the forced cancellation of his National Fantasy Football Convention.
Darren McFadden: The running back is still limited (hamstring strain) at practice.
Ryan Williams: The backup running back is not practicing on Wednesday. He is still dealing with swelling in the knee.
Byron Jones: The first-round defensive back is getting looks at the safety position during OTAs.
Tyrone Crawford: The head coach is excited about the defensive lineman. Garrett said on Crawford, "The sky is the limit." Crawford is currently looking for a contract extension.
La'el Collins: The offensive lineman has seen more reps at the guard position than the tackle position.
Terrance Williams: The Baylor product has been making strides at OTAs with the absence of Bryant. Garrett said about Williams' improvement, "Really in every area. He's a determined guy. You see that every day."
Virtual reality: It was reported earlier in the week that he Cowboys would be using virtual reality to help players. Garrett believes that the backups will benefit the most from it, specifically the backup QB. He also said, "We're an old school team. But you want to be on the cutting edge of how you teach players."

With our DEs Crawforf can really blow up

I extend Crawford yesterday to a reasonable contract with some incentives built in. This way he gets compensated if he really blows up but the team is covered if he is just average

I agree, cheaper to pay an upwardly trending player now rather than later.

Thanks for posting this.

Some good and some not so good.

Good that Crawford is interested in signing an extension. I think he'll be much more affordable now rather than after this year.

Good to hear about Williams stepping up in Bryant's absence.

Not so good to hear that McFadden and Williams continue to miss practice time with injury.

I agree. Normally would not be concerned with guys missing some time, except when the guys both have a history of injuries.

Me too. I know 'it's only OTA's', but it's also 'only OTA's'. Where nobody is wearing pads, hitting, or tackling.

And McFadden arrives not with a bang, but a whimper. Not exploding onto the scene displaying the talents he showed in college, but with a thud, not even able to make it through non-contact work.

It does not get any easier than OTA.

It stands out that two of the RBs are already having injury problems. If the team had studied their history, they should have known that these two can not be counted on. Randle and Dunbar will be the only options if things continue like this. Sure, the RB position looks solid smh.

that is why the deals are cheap. I think we will see more competition brought in as we get close to training camp.

I'm starting to wonder if McFadden is even a lock to make this team.

Garrett did NOT say anything about Crawford's contract. That was just added by the writer of that blog article based on nothing more than the fact that Crawford is in the final year of his contract.

I've noticed that recaps, even some done by people here at CZ are sometimes used by people to slip in their own thoughts to make it seem as if it was part of the press conference.

Bryan Broaddus does something similar. He likes to mix up his own opinion and what the coaches/scouts are actually telling him such that it appears that his opinion is backed up by a coach or scout when in fact it often is not.

For 200k I didn't expect him to show up in the Swedish Bikini Team bus.

I hope Stephen is keeping an eye on Chris Johnson's recovery,we will need him if those two can't hack it on Oxnard.

CJ or one of those Raven backs are on emergency speed dial.

It's still early, however, I'd be shocked if the Cowboys don't make a move to aquire a decent, youngish, RB before training camp begins.

It is but when the 2 players have a big history of injury it is somewhat of a concern. Not saying panic time but you have a guy in Williams who has had major knee problems and now he is dealing with swelling in the knee. McFadden has any a number of injuries including several bouts with the hamstring and is missing due to hamstring. These are OTA but it does not get any easier than OTA
