It is but when the 2 players have a big history of injury it is somewhat of a concern. Not saying panic time but you have a guy in Williams who has had major knee problems and now he is dealing with swelling in the knee. McFadden has any a number of injuries including several bouts with the hamstring and is missing due to hamstring. These are OTA but it does not get any easier than OTA

That was my point essentially (although I didn't do a good job of expressing it). To expect much from Williams and McFadden is foolish. The team needs to prepare like they will be non-factors... if the end up contributing well then great.

The swelling is not in the knee that had the major injury. He has the good knee scoped recently. There will be swelling after a scope sometimes just from the incisions that were made.

Does not really matter the guy is nothing more than a walking injury, people said Lee and Murray were fragile? hell this guys has been nothing but an injury wasting space on team rosters.

Completely agree with this. :hammer:

Are you ready for Pain?
Are you ready for Suffering?
If the answer is Yes, then you're ready for Captain Freedom's Workout!

I watch it only because I'm waiting for Climbing For Dollars.

We wouldn't be worried if most other players had a knee scoped. I think Williams good knee is just swelling because there has not been enough time since the scope. If it is still swelling at the beginning of TC, then I'll be worried.

Let me say something I and many other posters have said about 100 times. Trade for a legitimate running back. Randle doesn't have it mentally, Williams and Mcfadden can't stay healthy, and Dunbar can be found on every college team in America

I thought the virtual reality thing sounded really cool. Imagine being a quarterback and having 3D models running toward you to practice against instead of learning marks on a grease board. You could keep running the play until you got it.

It could reshape the combine and individual workouts.

I agree, cheaper to pay an upwardly trending player now rather than later.

I always laugh when I read this. Like Crawford is just ready to roll over and sign a cheap deal as an "upward ascending player."

While we are at it let's get Dez done cheaply as well.

Did it not work with Scandrick?

If you call 4 new contracts "working" sure.

I was thinking more of the 5 year, $27 million extension his signed while in the final year of his original contract (which is where Crawford is too).

Also, Ratliff's 2007 contract of 5 years, $20.9 million is a good example too, I think.

So overpay early. And hope they grow into and them outperform and then agitate for a new deal. Meh

Sure, there obviously is a tradeoff there. For me, I'd rather take the risk of paying an up-and-coming 3rd year guy a year early. By the time they have 3 full seasons under their belt, you should have a pretty good idea of what kind of player you have. And if you don't -- well, then that's the type of player you don't extend a year early.

Obviously, this is all assuming that the player would even consider doing something like this. However if I was a young guy and was offered $4 or $5 million per year, with $12-15 million guaranteed... it would be reallllly hard for me to turn that down, even if I know there's a chance I could earn $6-8 million after the season.

Laugh all you want, that's a great attitude to bring to the discussion. Condescension always goes over well.

He would come a lot cheaper before a potential Pro Bowl season (which people around the organization have mentioned) than he would after.

Matters more to get the deep reserve QBs the closest thing to reps that they won't get in real life. It should be interesting to see if it can help develop more QBs in the absence of a developmental league. That would be a huge addition to the game. A league with less than half the QBs capable of playing at a high level is a little diluted. It is one thing that the college farm system is doing that is killing the competitive balance. It also hurts teams in that even average QBs are now commanding huge chunks of the salary cap because it is so hard to find options.

It's beginning to look as though both McFadden's and Ryan's futures in Dallas are fast becoming somewhat grim reminders of their unfortunate pasts. If it continues, it sure looks as though the Dallas staff had best keep beating the bushes to find some readily available RB replacements for either or both of them. If that was bound to happen anyway, perhaps it's better that it happens now than later when replacements are non-existent.

On a far more encouraging note, it's welcome news to hear of Coach Garrett's positive comments regarding Terrance Williams and his continuing progress. That is especially gratifying after hearing of last season's bad habit of taking plays off. Anyhow, he's been called out, warned and additionally seems repentent. Good for him.
