Don't know what to make of it. On one hand, it's good, I guess. On the other, you always wonder when a street FA journeyman can walk in and get a spot in the starting rotation at DE.

I'm trying to look at it as a positive. Moore has shown flashes, going back to college, he's just been a clueless Bonehead. Maybe he's matured and finally realized he was throwing away the opportunity of a lifetime?

I think if his head is screwed on straight, he could be that RDE we've all been worried about.

Granted, that's a best-case scenario, but early returns look good.

I think I saw in an interview that he was engaged to be married, maybe his new woman has straightened him out? A good woman can make you, and a bad woman can break you.

Whatever the reason, I hope for all involved that he succeeds.

Jaylon still has plenty of time left to get himself fully prepared for the season. There's no harm in allowing him as much time as ne needs to get ready. Whether that means he will or won't be ready to start for the season opener, so be it.

In the meantime, he's doing all that he can, while the reports keep coming in constantly that say he's making steady progress. It seems to me that that should be good enough for now, without so many of the cynical comments that seem to persist here.

The truth will be known to all when the time comes to see him in action. Simple stuff, really. Why not give patience a shot? ;)

True. We've got 7 weeks before they break for training camp. There's too much time left to really get all spun up on how he looks today. I think we're all pleased that the reports are mostly positive.

We all enjoy a "feelgood" story. Especially Jerry Jones. Unfortunately, most of the time, the star of that story
never realizes his role and the story doesn't end the way we had hoped.

But we're due. Maybe this one works out.

The good news here is that Dallas must like what it is seeing from Collins at RT, even in just these OTAs.

The team went from Collins probably will end up at staying at left guard, to Collins is only practicing at right tackle to letting Green compete at a different position.
I will be surprised if Green stays at OG.

I'm not sure it will be, but it's going to be interesting to see. For the most part, prior to last year, I think the Free criticism was overblown. But he did seem to drop off last season.

I feel pretty confident we'll be able to get by at LG with the options we've got on the roster, so if Collins really does come in and play great at LT, it ought to be a big boost to the offense.

I'm not even sure who the offensive whipping boy is going to be. Besides Terrence Williams, of course. It's getting harder and harder to guess.
in the NFL you only really need 2 of 3 interior OL positions to be "good" if one is adequate you usually can scheme to cover the warts with the other two guys. You do no not get a lot of fronts with the guys over the guards and the center usually the interior does a lot of combo blocks depending on alignment of the front.

Broaddus' impressions

Strange sight during the practice was seeing guys like Dez Bryant and Jason Witten mixed in with the second and third groups taking snaps. Usually those two are exclusively with the first group, so it must have been a different experience for those young guys in the huddle to see them standing there then executing plays.

I like it actually helps development of the bottom of the roster, running against other twos and threes does not make you better. Takes you out of your comfort zone makes you think about what you need to do.

I noticed Bryan didn't make any positive assessments in his notes today. After spending a whole podcast pretty much assigning Jaylon to IR or PUP, I have to wonder about him.

I noticed that too. After podcasting how he still shows signs of the injury, he didn't have really one comment about Smith's injury in his writeup on today's practice. He just talked about two plays Smith was in on in 9 on 9.

I think that shows he's largely been just guessing on Smith.

I'm in no way excepting Carroll to be D. Sanders, but C'mon on dude getting "abused" by Butler?!?!? Butler is very average.... He's gonna hand one of these rookies a starting job... CB1- Brown, CB2-Awuzie, Slot-Scandrick/Lewis

Butler may be average but he's decent enough to make plays against NFL corners...he has proven that much.

And I see Chaz Green is still @ LG...just dumb. The guy needs reps @ both tackle spots....yet here the Cowboys are messing w/ another players development. How many players must bite the dust before they figure out what they are doing is wrong? Honestly...the season is going to come up....players are going to be asked to play positions they haven't played all spring and summer...yet are expected to perform @ a high level. Talk about a plan for failure. Only in Dallas does this make any sense.

What's dumb is to assume the same coaches who have developed the best offensive line in the NFL and managed to insert players in place of injured lineman throughout last season and still maintain their dominance!
