You know what, that was the second guy I considered. And I think you could be right. If Rico looks like he can play, we'll start hearing how Witten can't block so well anymore, and the false starts are exactly the kind of multiplier that'll set the yappier fans off.

It's going to suck, isn't it?

Butler the second he drops a ball. Hell, he's already a whipping boy for some. Never mind all the great catches he made last year (like TWill has done over the course of his career here), and his connection with Dak.

Honorable mention to Witten, that train is coming, too.

Where her it's Rico (I hope it's Rico) or another TE on the roster... At some point we need to reduce Witt's snaps.

I'm not a Witten truther who thinks he sucks. But he'd benefit from a blow at this stage in his career) and we could start getting meaningful reps for other players in preparing for the future) .

yup....

But it's time. We have given him so many passes on correctable mistakes...and he never did get better. Poor blocking. The penalties. Especially the penalties....I think your gonna see him start to get phased out this year. I hope he just carries the party line and doesn't turn into a distraction because he isn't getting the ball enough. Not that I think he is a diva...but there are only so many touches to go around..and it looks like the plan is to spread people out w/ quick little slot WRs...not slumbering TEs.:rolleyes:

This is absolutely gonna happen in the next year or two, as long as there's someone there to take the reigns. Gathers is so important. Really hope the hype is true! Swaim would be good, too, as he had amazing chemistry with Dak, but we all know about his injuries.

Gathers allows us to not have to draft a TE high if he pans out. We need to allocate as many picks to the D in the next draft or two as possible, while having a viable TE other than Witt.

I hate it, and I think Witten will probably be capable of playing as long as he wants to play, but I agree that the writing is on the wall for him in Dallas if Rico really can play. He's already mentioned the possibility of retirement. This year or next will probably be his last season if we have somebody to really take over.

What the h**l are you talking about. They have drafted and developed the best offensive line in the NFL, yet you the Internet/couch GM and coach calls them dumb.
