Our defensive problems are over

:hammer: I'd place Ellis on the IR and take the decision out of his hands.

I just have a bad feeling about him. I see it happening(re-injury) in my head.

If he goes on IR does that mean he is out for year or can come back after so many games?

Out for a year and you (perhaps) expect him back in what is a young man's game.
Surely, our collective man love for Ellis does not extend toward some odd, surrealistic hope that he can contribute this or any other year?
The man is older than ... fuhgetaboutit!

As for whatever happens to Ellis, I hope jerra knows this:

It will be a lose-lose situation for Jerra and the Cowboys.
If Ellis is placed on IJ he will say the Cowboys did not give him a chance, that they punished him for speaking out.

If he plays and plays poorly, Ellis will say he was rushed into play even though he did not feel ready.

If he reinjuries himself, Ellis will ask how much loyalty the Cowboys will have for him. What have they done for him lately.

Hope Jerra sees the liabilities just having this whiner around poses.

I dont expect anything. I think maybe after a full year of recovery that he could come back and be a situational pass rusher. It could happen and he could be effective.

Whats an IJ?

watching dallas sunday reminded me of the skins last year- you lose your best corner and the whole D struggles. too early to tell, obviously, but newman is that good.
Watching Dallas should never remind you of Washington, Dallas has talent, Washington has Snyder wet dreams on stock.

Commanders scored 45 points that easily last year?

Ellis is needed to defend the run, not rush the passer. That is what Spencer is for.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Ellis return to DE while Spencer continues to start at OLB. Ellis is at his best there and that would let either Canty or Spears slide inside to spell Ratliff.

With Spencer starting to come on, Ware at the other side and Ellis at DE, if Ellis is anywhere near his old self the pressure on the QB has to improve.

with the players already struggling to remember their responsibilities, I don't think having them swap positions every third play is a good idea,,,

Ok... but he still got about 5 sacks in about 9 games last year. We could send him in too
