Is 24m under the cap enough space to maneuver? That's how much cap space they have. Whether they activate it or not is another discussion.
They got Melton, Byrd got a crazy contract, they were in on Allen. Who are these guys they missed on that are sure bets to be better than the guys we have that don't come with a giant price tag?
The offense is pretty set. They are solid at LB, DB and ST(they can't upgrade without giving up on some young talent). They are addressing the DL and have 11 Draft picks.
They can get more room under the cap, but it would make the cap even more if a problem than it is now. It really doesn't matter who the players are that they might would have had an interest in. The point is that Stephen Jones has said that the cap was going to limit their free agent signings. He should know. They can sink deeper into cap hell by reworking some contracts, but the result would make some bad contracts even worse. That would really screw the future up. If Stephen can see the situation for what it is, I would hope others can too.
