After 25 plus years you would think the law of averages would start to be a factor so maybe there is a glimmer of hope after all

You're right. You would think just by sheer luck the Cowboys would have been in at least one NFC championship game in 26 years. The problem is the Jones boys stack the deck against themselves.

The OP broke it down into detail. But the short of it is, the Cowboys build through the draft, and that's where it ends. You can't build a team quick enough, with enough impact players to win a championship that way. Not unless you get stupid lucky and hit on like 6 guys in two straight drafts.

Fear of failure is a great motivator. There is no fear of failure for Jerry and Stephen. The money rolls in and no one is going to fire them.

They don't do anything that makes them uncomfortable. They keep their guys and hope to win, but if not they can just run it back next year.

I didn't think of this possibility. But it makes the most sense. I always thought it was because of the dumb moves Jerry made in the past. He doesn't trust himself. Didn't he move up for Morris Claiborne? Since that didn't work he never tries it again. Nor does he do anything.

We have over $20m invested in a RB and a Punter. Now that's how to build a SB team.

And woefully below average at building a super bowl contender. That is the goal, right?
It should be the one and only goal of the team, GM and fans. If they have a goal of making the playoffs, they will never be in a Super Bowl. The GM has one goal. He wants all the credit for every win that they have. He desperately wants to win a Super Bowl before he dies , but he had rather have an average team if he will not get all the credit for winning a Super Bowl

Yup. He doesn't want to win a super bowl, he wants the credit for winning a super bowl.

A reporter asked him why he doesn't spend high capital on the OL.

His response: "I shouldn't have to. Hudson Houck is the highest paid OL coach in the league."

Think about how flawed that logic is.
Jerry’s comment is very telling. No coach can be successful without talent.

The plan is to eventually make Cowboys fans zombies who will gather in front of TVs and at AT&T stadium to watch games. Winning is optional, but zombies do not care about wins/losses.
