In addition, the irony of the 9ers getting Adams, essentially for Brandon Lloyd and maybe a compensatory pick, would be just incredible.

I would think Washington would jump at the offer of their #6 for SF's #11, #76, #104, and #124 which would work based on the draft value chart.

There's no way SF gives up that much though. This draft is deep through the 3rd and 4th and the 9'ers are much more than 1 player away. They need all their picks.

Circular logic? Do you even know what that term means?

I said "essentially for Brandon Lloyd and a compensatory pick." I didn't say they had to trade that pick. They can trade a future pick that is worth the same value as the compensatory pick. That's the beauty of valuing draft picks: they become fungible.

For example, look at the Matt Schaub trade. The Falcons "essentially" received an extra 1st round draft pick this year. Did they actually receive a first round pick? No, they received enough picks in the exchange such that the total value was an extra first round pick.

I knew that you couldn't trade compensatory picsks, but I don't expect you to believe me, nor do I really care if you do. But there's nothing circular about any of my logic. Condescending? Maybe. Correct? Certainly.

Give up. The cover-up is always more costly than the original offense.

Ya know...I actually considered including a disclaimer, because I expected some goombah to come along claiming "Har, har, har...you can't trade comp picks!! Har!!! Har!!! Har!!!"

But hey, it's whatever. ;)

This was posted by Cowboysarebetterthan on another board. Not sure where he got Carp's 40 time? Is that from his OSU workout after the combine?

Ware, Burnett & Carpenter are fast

In an interesting note, this year's class of 3-4 OLB candidates (who we are apparently looking at) all have slower 40 times than our current 3-4 OLB:

40 Yard Dash (sec)
Ware 4.53
Burnett 4.58
Carpenter 4.63
Gaines Adams 4.64
Jacob Ford 4.65
Brian Robison 4.67
Tim Crowder 4.69
Jarvis Moss 4.70
Antwan Applewhite 4.73
LaMarr Woodley 4.74
Justin Hickman 4.75
Dan Bauzin 4.77
Quentin Moses 4.82

And among those, Adams, Hickman, Ford, Moss and Moses are also weak compared to our OLB.

225-lb Bench (reps)
Crowder 32
Spencer 30
Woodley 29
Ware 27
Brian Robison 27
Carpenter 26
Dan Bauzin 25
Antwan Applewhite 25
Burnett 23
Justin Hickman 23
Gaines Adams 21
Jacob Ford 19
Quentin Moses 17
Jarvis Moss 16

When he physically matures, he will be a stud.

I wish I could pump out 16 reps at 6'6 . With arms like that , that number can be deceiving.

His arms are shorter than Ware's, yet Ware put up 27 reps. Moss is just weak.

Ya know, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Commanders find their trade down partner in the 49ers if Adams falls to 6. The 49ers have the draft picks to play around with (8 picks in the first 4 rounds), and Adams would be a great complement to Lawson if they can make the switch to 3-4.

In addition, the irony of the 9ers getting Adams, essentially for Brandon Lloyd and maybe a compensatory pick, would be just incredible.

This is what I was replying to theo, maybe you meant it differently?

Is your trouble that I didn't spell out every single pick that they would need to trade in order to get the Gaines Adams? Of course they would swap picks. That's what trade down means.

I see, in your world essentially doesn't mean essentially. Don't be a Jack ***, what you wrote in the initial post was missleading.

You say the Niners would be getting Adams for "essentially Lloyd and some compenatory picks", which would be an insane coup, leaving out the first round pick in the "essentially" was misleading and confusing.

I wasn't trying to start an argument, I was just trying to understand where you were coming from.

No, "essentially" refers to what it would cost them to trade up. Obviously they would swap picks. When people talk about trading up and they refer to what it would cost, for most people, simply referring to the draft picks in addition to the swapped pick is sufficient.

I won't be an *** if you won't act ignorant.
