I’d trade Zack Martin. He’s at the end of the line and we aren’t winning this year anyway. Bass can hold it down

IF, he is at the end of the line as you claim, no one is going to take his contract.
Madden idiocy

Agreed, but remember we are talking about depth pieces here. Bass we seem to have a general agreement around here that he's a nice player to have on your bench. Hoffman despite a low sample size has at least shown that he is capable of coming in and giving you a start or two if needed. For what should be your 2nd guy up for an interior Oline spot, that's not terrible. You also have a decent depth player who just can't stay on the field for very long in Edoga to push these guys. The interior is set up pretty well.

Where I struggle with our depth is at the T spots. It'll be interesting to see if they run into injury issues would they plug in a guy like Richards, or push Tyler Smith out to T.
I think you are over rating Hoffman; he really went up against bad teams. Against them he did all right; but against better?

The idea that the Dallas front office would know how to generate trade value out of a player is beyond ludicrous. They could have a top 10 QB and figure out how to only get a comp pick when he leaves via a free agent deal elsewhere. They could have a WR that isn't on a back breaking contract and generate a 5th rounder when similar players garner far more. They would most likely release a player that any other GM could trade for a 6th or 7th. I think Howie Roseman (annoying weasel that he is) could trade a player to Dallas, have Dallas cut him, pick him back up, then trade him back to Dallas again all in one offseason. It's just that lopsided.

Those fantasizing that Dallas will trade some of their surplus OL talent (if they do actually have any) for anything other than another team's dud bust or a bag of magic beans need to review recent history.

I mean sure, but at the same time I think your expectations of what a 2nd/3rd string OL looks like may be too high. You have a UDFA who showed promise in his rookie year with 200ish snaps. There are teams out there that would love to have that guy. If he were going up again Dexter Lawrence and Aaron Donald week after week and dominating he wouldn't be viewed as a depth piece.

Get back to me when Tyler Guyton is not starting at LT in week 1. Do you guys think this is a video game?
Personally I think he starts week 1, but I do wish people were more open minded about this kid. Physically he's everything you want, but has limited snaps in college and still has quite a bit of his game that needs developed. Not saying it will be this bad, but he could be closer to a Mazi Smith rookie year than a Tyron Smith rookie year. What I don't want to see is everyone put super high expectations on these rookie OL only to bash them through the ups and downs and possibly even games on the bench. Of course that doesn't include Beebe as he's already working on his HOF speech.

I think in a league where 5 quality OL on the same team is rare, Dallas has done great at stacking the players there.

I liked Richards last year, wasn't ready to be a player but he showed a lot of good stuff with his technique just needed to add some anchor ability. He could and prob will be our Swing Tackle this year.

Hoffman and Bass both played in real games against real NFL players and did pretty good. So that is a huge positive. Add in the 2 picks this year in rounds1 and 3 and then the late round pick and it is going to be a really good line for a long time barring any major injuries. The 7th round pick will need to be redshirted this year for sure but he has some good traits if he can develop.

Other than the three remaining starting veterans, we haven't seen another O-lineman on this team do a single thing.

Other than a few players that filled in for A game or two as a starter, they are pretty much a complete mystery..

I don't know if an offensive line has true depth if their starters are replaced by rookies and undrafted free agents.

In fact when you automatically replace two former starters with rookies, I would say that confirms a complete lack of depth.

Too me, an offensive line has real depth when you have backups capable of starting in another team. A change of players in the middle of a game would barely be noticable.

The 90's Cowboys had an offensive line so good that. when a player was cut or traded, he would make a different team, start, and even pick up a few Pro Bowls

I'm excited by the IOL group they've put together: Tyler Smith, Beebe, Martin, Bass, Hoffman and Thomas.

My concern is at starting LT and Swing T. Guyton is plug n play just hopes he can do the job. After that, there's Richards, Waletzko, and Edoga for that swing Tackle. Can Richards take a leap? Is Waletzko a failed project? Will Steele bounce back?

I'm very confident about the interior, but skeptical looking at Tackle.

Perhaps it's true, but the first word I thought of when I saw "OL Depth" was Oxymoron.

I truly believe that one of the reasons we were OK letting Tyron and Biadasz go is because of what we had seen from that depth. There were question marks still, of course, with Richards, Bass and Hoffman, but all three had shown signs of belonging on the field last season. That's why I wasn't sure we'd draft an offensive tackle early. We had some options there — Richards starting or Smith moving back to LT and Bass starting at G. I felt center was more of a need because I didn't want Dallas to just rely on Hoffman and find out that he's fool's gold (but apparently, the option of Bass at center would have been in the mix).

Even though there are those questions about whether Guyton and Beebe will be able as rookies to transition to new positions, I feel pretty good about this group overall because of what the backups showed last year. I was almost a little surprised that we brought Edoga back, but his versatility to be the swing tackle may have been a factor in that. Not sure outside of Guyton that we have anyone else who can back up Steele. We tried Waletzko there last preseason and that was an ugly experiment, and we know Ball is not a tackle in this league.
Tyron and TB left because of $$$
