...and in hindsight, wound up costing us a playoff berth that year.

Yeah, me and my friend were having this discussion the other day, about how Ken Hamlin hasn't really been a playmaker the past two seasons at safety, but at least he doesn't give up big plays. When we were still running Roy out there at safety, we could pretty much count on getting torched deep a couple times a month.

Santana Moss's 2 TDs in a row still haunt me the tiniest bit.

Those were on Aaron Glenn, not RW.

But there was a turning point after that San Diego game. Ask New Orleans or Philly about our pass defense.

A quick point on this. My previously mentioned Colts fan friend likes to excuse those Cowboys wins as just the opposing teams offense didn't play well.

Of course he claims NOT to be a Colts homer while calling me a homer that's almost as bad as a Pats fan. He claims because he can admit that the Colts faults makes him objective. Funny thing is, everytime they lose it's usually because of dropped passes, they didn't play well, etc. THE ONLY time he ever says they got outplayed is when they pull a win out of the jaws of defeat. Example: when, like the Texans game of 08 season, Sage completely gave the game to the Colts. I kinda just laugh when I hear this stuff.

The Cowboy pass defense improved by leaps and bounds over the last half of the season. The first part of the season wasn't stellar, but then over the last half, several important things happened:

1. Jenkins really turned it on. He's now a very, very good corner.
2. Scandrick improved greatly from a horrible first few games.
3. Spencer became the pass-rusher that many envisioned.

While the Cowboy pass defense is still a little soft underneath, I think it's the best pass defense left in the playoffs.

Bingo. When was the last time you could say Dallas had 3 good cornerbacks? That's what changed in our pass D, well that and continual improvements by our younger OLB-DEs.

I think it may be due to people looking at certain stat numbers. Dallas does not have allot of ints however that does not tell the whole story of how a secondary is playing. Our DB's are not giving up many catches or yards after the catch and of course the defensive front puts enough pressure where QB's are forced to throw balls away or take the sack.
