Fasano is not a pass catching TE. That is what Garrett's offense requires. I would bet they were planning on drafting a TE before they traded Fasano. They wanted to upgrade the position

the offense has changed since Parcells drafted Fasano.

No amount of spin however will make like the TE selection. Hate it.

Spot on. I will never understand why in the hell Jerry & Co. just drafted another backup TE with a high pick after trading away the backup TE they drafted with a high pick only a couple seasons ago.

I hate that pick and don't see any need for it. It was stupid.

..the moment this trade was announced..I thought to myself this would become a top draft need for us after CB, RB and WR.

WR just hasn't fallen for us in this draft but it's not going to be critical.

Offensively, Bennett is going to be a productive player. He runs after the catch and breaks tackles well.

I'm sure they took him because he was also rated at the top of the TE's in the draft..too good to pass up.

I have to tell you, although we are not needing to draft these guys as fulltime starters, I think all 3 could be put in as rookies and start for us and do OK if it had to happen.

I really like what we have done.

And with Bennett, when he and Witten are both in there, the passing defense isn't going to be automatically double-covering Witten anymore.

This guy Bennett could really become a weapon.

Guys:

I watched Martellus at A&M for 3 years. He also played Power Forward on the basketball team. He definitely can catch the ball, and he is quick enough and strong enough to handle most of the defensive ends in the NFL. He will need to improve his route running.

Overall, I see this as filling one of the major needs for the Cowboys that remain along with a WR. So many WR went off the board in the second, it mandated a TE pick and not a WR pick.

Things could have been a lot worse. Jerry could have gone with a LB, CB, QB or RB.

If you are going to complain about picking the best available at a need position, then you really don't understand what a GM is supposed to do.

All in all, I would give the Cowboys a B-, I think they could have either kept the 7th or 5th round pick in the trade up for the CB. Otherwise, I would have given them an A- for addressing needs on the team. Remember, they don't have a lot of needs to address. Most of the team was in the Pro Bowl which is what so many people tend to forget.

not trying to make you like the selection here, but this is a new coaching staff and a new offensive coach, I bet Garrett was in Jerry's ear the whole time telling him to get rid of Fasano, and get Bennett in Dallas
