Don't take this wrong I'm happy with today (15 + 21 +46 = 82) but what about this:

Rick Gosselin's NFL draft Top 100
Rank, player Pos. School
1. Glenn Dorsey DT LSU

14. Devin Thomas WR Michigan State
15. Mike Jenkins CB South Florida - Our pick 25
16. Jeff Otah OT Pittsburgh
17. Jonathan Stewart HB Oregon

33. Kenny Phillips S Miami
34. Malcolm Kelly WR Oklahoma
35. Tyrell Johnson S Arkansas State
36. Jamaal Charles HB Texas
37. Joe Flacco QB Delaware
38. Brandon Flowers CB Virginia Tech
39. Limas Sweed WR Texas
40. Fred Davis TE Southern California
41. Chris Johnson HB East Carolina
42. Lawrence Jackson DE Southern California
43. Donnie Avery WR Houston
44. Kevin Smith HB Central Florida
45. Antoine Cason CB Arizona
46. Martellus Bennett TE Texas A&M
47. Dan Connor LB Penn State - Our pick 61
48. Jordy Nelson WR Kansas State
49. Anthony Collins OT Kansas
50. Tracy Porter CB Indiana

(10 + 15 + 47 = 72) That's 10 points better! :) Jones / Mendenhall don't really matter which one to me, but Connor will play for Eggplant Thomas more than Bennett will for Witten ..... IMO .....

not trying to make you like the selection here, but this is a new coaching staff and a new offensive coach, I bet Garrett was in Jerry's ear the whole time telling him to get rid of Fasano, and get Bennett in Dallas

Thats what I think too...plsu Fasano was never a great run blocker, and thats one of the reasons they drafted him...they thought it'd make the offense mroe flexible to have him and Witten out there together, and it really didnt. Plus, Fasano was always dinged up.

And this is a TE oriented passing offense. If something happens to Witten we're screwed. I feel much better plugging this guy in there FT than someone like Tony Curtis

I disagree, not because Bennett would replace Witten, but because we actually do (and want to) use alot of two TE formations, and because the guy we got rid of wasnt doing that well in it, that style was used less and less

and who knows, we may get Connor tomorrow

mendenhall is a better rb. most would agree. but that doesn't make him the better rb for our team. we're simply not going with a dominate back and will platoon the position for the forseeable future. period. mendenhall would be another barber and yes, i agree with that assesment.

some people get so wrapped up in the # next to a player and i don't get it. the people pointing this out are also probably upset at taking bpa w/a TE in the 2nd.

Yes Mendenhall is a better RB. However, like you said not the best RB for the Cowboys, that's F Jones. The TE in the 2nd is an upsetting pick tho. We just traded a 2nd round pass catching TE for a 4th round pick. While the whole time having a Pro-Bowl ALL AROUND TE and a TE in Curtis that everyone loved yesterday that liked the trade . I don't know, seems to me we could've used a LB (can't never have enuff in a 3-4 Def) or dare I even say it a WR (got whipped like school girls when our #1 WR went down last year)

The fact this was an awful LB and WR draft kept that from happening.

We did want Sweed at 61 but he was off the board. So was about every other WR with a pulse.

Bennett is a big, fast athlete we can actually use. He can help on special teams and he can actually get out into patterns. He is one of those basketball player TE's that are so good at using their body to get position.

But why? Are we really going to run 2 TE sets now finally?

As I recall, the Cowboys have been featuring the two tight-end set with great frequency.

According to Albert Breer's charts, the majority of Dallas' formations featured multiple tight ends. Am I remembering correctly?

All of these picks look great going by Gosselin's rankings but wait until he gives out the draft grades.
We will get downgraded for passing up Mendenhall.
I am not disliking the pick however.
Was I mad when Dallas took Felix Jones???Heck yes!!!!!!!
I wanted Mike Jenkins at 22 even over Mendenhall and Felix Jones.
But when we traded back up and got Jenkins 2 picks later...I was calm again.
Bennett pick...Not really keen on this pick but he is apparently better than he looked in college. A&M had a terrible passing game.
