Our Playoff Chances...

Ok, well, it looks like winning the NFC East is not going to happen for our Cowboys :(

So, with the Playoff picture as it stands now, the Seahawks and Bears look to be on the road to getting a BYE in the first round... the Panthers might be able to overtake the Bears, but I don't think they'll do it, but they'll probably end up with 3rd or 4th seed, with the Giants getting the other seed.

2 Spots left... Tampa Bay is 5th with a 1-game lead over 3 teams tied for the 6th seed - Cowboys, Falcons and Vikings. At this point, we would win the tiebreaker because we have a better conference record than ATL and MIN. Let's assume that everything stay about the same, with the remaining games on the schedule for the 3 teams tied for the 6th spot, who do you guys think will get it - HONESTLY... trying not to use our Cowboys bias.

I think for the Cowboys to make the playoffs as a 6th seed, they will HAVE TO win 3 out of their last 4 games. I think that the best chances that we have are our 2 home games against KC this week and our final game of the season against St Louis. We can beat the Commanders in DC, but it will be a tough divisional game and again, in a hostle environment, which makes this game much tougher. I think our toughest game will be @ Carolina. So hopefully we will win 3 of 4 and sneak into the playoffs, probably with the 6th seed.

REMAINING SCHEDULE
DALLAS (7-5): KC, @WASH, @CAR, STL
ATLANTA (7-5): NO, @CHI, @TB, CAR
MINNESOTA (7-5): STL, PIT, @BAL, CHI
WASHINGTON (6-6): @ARI, DAL, NYG, @PHI
PHILADELPHIA (if they win on MNF tonight against SEA, 6-6): NYG, @STL, @ARI, WAS

One final note/questions for the fans on here: Yesterday a lot of Cowboy fans at the bar that I watched the game at were saying that it would be better for us to just not make the playoffs and get a higher draft pick... I disagree. The difference in draft order IF we make the playoffs or not will probably be only 3-5 spots different. Plus, the playoffs would be like starting a NEW season, with ALL our games on the road... we'd hopefully also have Henry back along with a couple of other dinged up players and our defense will continue to improve game by game.

At least that's what I think... let me know what you all think.

KC is starting to look good again with Roaf back in the line. This game will determine our tempo.

Well it's probably a good thing that we'd have to win 3 out of 4 to get in since it'd mean we were playing some semblence of football to do it. But to only beat say the Skins and the Rams and then somehow back in at 9-7 cause some other team gagged would be more or less pointless.

The offense isnt exactly world beaters at home, much less on the road. They've scored like 14 or less in the last 4 road games. Which means even the Skins game isnt gonna be a lock anyway.

I agree that ALL of our games will be tough... Obviously, the KC and Carolina games are tough just because they are tough teams. The Washington game will be tough because it is a division rival, in Washington, in a hostile environment.

It might all come down to the St Louis game, and if it does, even though we SHOULD win it, the pressure will be ON and I just hope that the Cowboys would be ready to play and WIN against the Rams, IF it comes down to that game. That will be the FINAL GAME of the NFL Regular Season, so we'd know the playoff possiblities that Sunday night, giving us an advantage in the sense of us knowing what we'd have to do to get into the playoffs, if that was possible.

Win the next two to get to 9-5 and then see where we are at. We can still win this division but we gotta win the next 2 because at Carolina will be a tough assignment. Giants just ain't that good and they play 3 of last 4 on the road so I'm not conceding the NFC East yet. Eagles and Skins will play hard vs. NYG. Let's see how it all unfolds.

I think its still a race for the NFC East. We need to win at least 3 games. KC quite possibly becomes the season. And if that game is won, the following week is the Season. And if that one is won, the next game becomes the season.

Yes I think it is possible that 9-7 gets a team into the playoffs. The thing is that almost no team has something that looks like a free ride into the playoffs for that last spot. Our schedule is tough, but the Falcons is worse I think. I would say the Vikings schedule is about equal. I'd say the skins have the easiest schedule, but have to win out to really have a chance. The Iggles I think will be done tonight.

Don't forget about Tampa. They have a real tough schedule remaining too, with only a 1 game lead I think that we have a chance to 1. Win the division 2. take one of TWO remaining WC spots.

Tampa Bay's remaining schedule:

1. @Carolina
2. @New England
3. Atlanta
4. New Orleans

They could very easily lose 2 and probably 3 of those games, and back up to the rest of the pack.

Forgot to mention that at this point we have the same Conference record as TB and have a big SOS advantage, as well as SOV advantage.

The only winnable games I can see, and they are maybes but a good possibility, are the Rams and Commanders. Chiefs will win and the Pathers will win. And I am being optomistic!!!

I do not want to see this team back into the playoffs and get Colorado'd in the first rd.

To realistically make the playoffs, the Cowboys need to go 3-1 - at least.

Not a good scenario given the recent performance of this offense. It's amazing how bad this OL is and how anyone can want to see them get abused in the playoffs is beyond me.

I'm a Commander fan...does anyone think 9-7 gets you into the Wildcard?

I really don't think 9-7 will get a wild card this year. If the Cowboys lose 2 more I won't look for them to make the playoffs if they lose 1 of their next two I will be seriously doubting that they could make the playoffs even. I think 10-6 is pretty much the minimum this year.

i think we can go 3-1 or even 4-0. I think it depends on BP really changing his aproach to the game though, Attack and throw the bomb, use marion barber more often even tyson thompson. And also, when we get Anthony Henry back, keep ware in Run Defence rather than pass rush at least against KC, he seems like hes got a big future in stopping the run. Also, id like to see more of the 4-3 against KC. May sound genius or stupid lol, which one fellas?

Go back to his New York days, Parcells aint changing anything. Look at last year. it was evident we were going no where, yet he remained with Vinny. If its not something he came up with, you cant tell him anything. He is old and set in his ways. He aint changing anything. Expect more of the same old tired dink and dunk and run the RB into the biggest pile at the line of scrimmage.

Our offense is exposed. Teams are starting to pick this up now because we rarely change our offensive approach to the game. Even with the OL problems, we still run the same philosphy.

Until something changes, It's look like the defense is going to be asked to win from here on out. Hopefully 10-17 points will be enough to win. But I highly doubt it.
