We think because we have Zeke, Lee, Lawrence etc... We are a lock for the playoffs. Right?!

We didnt sign a #1 WR because after all Zeke will open up the passing game... Right?!

Our O-Line will dominate with all the talent we have. Right?!

We don't need a fancy gameplan, we can just line up and run the same 10-15 plays like we did in the 90's...

Right?!

The game is a different game than it was in the 90's. JJ/Garrett are trying to recreate nostalgia, the 90's cowboys... Running to impose our will, yet he doesn't even commit to that?

Rarely do you have a team with the talent to line up with the defense knowing what we are going to do and be able to execute. Our staff has bought into their own hype, maybe with these losses things might change.

But I think the one bright spot on this staff is the one who isn't listening to the hype...

The only coach not listening to their own hype is Kris Richard hence that is the only side of the ball that is doing well...

If anything is going to change with this staffs methodology, now is the time. Over the next 2-3 games if we don't have success I think there will be a change. I don't believe that it will happen during the season unless Richard is the intended successor. Which I would be in favor of...

im betting money that "Hubris" turns into either 1) Garret 2) Jerry Jones or 3) Dak by the time this thread has run its course.

The royal we at the zone does not think that. If by we you mean the Dallas FO that appears how they operate.

That is expected unfortunately.

I'll clarify. Yes I meant the Front Office.

You charged too much.

If we're going to use the word 'hubris', this thread can only be aimed directly at Jerry. Jerry is still living in a fantasy world where he thinks every move is the best one.

- retaining Garrett over and over even though its painfully clear to everyone Garrett is a failure at the position

- failing to replace Witten. He probably feels what they have is adequate

- not replacing Dez. He did resign Butler, but was it his idea? Aside from Butler nothing else of significance was done.

- the QB position. Jerry probably thinks Dak is the next franchise QB because of how successful 2016 was. The problem is he has no idea why 2016 was successful. First and foremost, it had nothing to do with Garrett or his ability to coach. I feel it was simply a matter of Romo going down and a rookie QB being pushed into the fire long before he was ready. Opposing teams had no idea how to game plan until later in the season when film was available.

There are many other reasons why Jerry has let hubris cloud his mind, but I'll let others add to this to keep the post reasonably short.

I've said it many times, the brain trust here cares more about appearing clever than actually getting better.

This staff's long-standing take on 1Tech and safeties has haunted this team in playoff games.

This past off-season's arrogance on WR and TE will cost us this season.

Jerry's refusal to admit Garrett is not the "next coming" has also been a huge problem.

This team simply isn't good enough from the front office, to coaching, to players.

Hubris, stubbornness, short sighted, call it what you want.
Exhibit A Randy Gregory. Admit your mistake and call it a day.

wonder if the stadium will be full sunday
don't know if I can watch much more of what I have been seeing the first three weeks

Hubris for sure but it is more than that. The Jones family has turned the franchise into a marketing machine. Football is secondary. The NFL is a tough league. To be great you need to focus on football. Jerry worries more about Coke vs Pepsi.

I saw a few gadget plays vs the gmen but 0 against the seachicks. Lets go crazy with trick plays. It may just be the only way they can move the ball.

I think this O needs a big boast of energy. A new O coordinator would go along way, but fast play making WR is just what the Dr. ordered! Now, where can we get one of those?

I'm not sure about the answer to your original post, but this forum has a significant issue with honest evaluation of players based on bias. That sword cuts both ways. For example, many on this forum over rated players like Witten, Dez and others because of historical performance (or perceived performance).

The reverse is true of up and coming players like Heath who is a pretty good player in his own right, even if he's ET in his prime.

Then we get biased slanted perception, like the Dez haters against Dak. Objectivity is seriously lacking in general.

We are going to have to make some serious decisions on important players like Lee, Tyron and of course, Dak.

Past performance must be taken into account (all three have experienced significant success) but we must also consider the recent suckage of Tyron, Dak and to a lesser extent Lee and well as injury history.

We can move on from Dak cheaply now if we choose to do so and that's particularly relevant since QB is such a high dollar position. I don't think we will, honestly, and I think he can be good enough, given the right circumstances, but the team needs to get that one right.

Tyron poses a problem because we have restructured him and he probably has significant guaranteed money left. We need to get off of the restructure train with him starting immediately. We kept Dez around way too long because of his contract.

We need to keep our options open with Tyron. It may not be the end, but we may be able to see the end from here.
