Do you think JJ is an idiot for resigning TO, T-New, Flo, Barber, Signing AJ?

Get real, JJ is the best owner in the NFL and does whatever it takes to win.

Of course, I am talking about Johnson and Bartel. We need to go get Simms. Why do they have so much confidence in Johnson, he is so over the hill and Bartel is not any better. I just don't think we win many games if Romo goes down with these backups.

I agree. I give Brad credit for trying at his age. And Bartel is practice squad at best.

The coaches seem happy with Brad. I hope this is just for show and they do something to address this area.

Once again, why get all upset over 2 guys who ( most likely ) wont PLAY ( at QB ) at ALL this season?

We don't want our season ended by an injury to Romo... we'd like to be able to bring in somebody who gives us at least a chance to be competitive if that happened...

With Johnson and Bartel as the "depth", our season would be over if Tony got hurt... this issue should have already been addressed, frankly...

You never know, injuries happen buddy. You need a young quality back up QB.

I'd settle for an old, quality backup QB... is there another Bernie Kosar out there??

Please don't say slim to none, unless you want to jinx the season. Quarterbacks get hurt all of the time, especially ones who play balls out like Romo. Brad Johnson isn't a terrible backup, although I would prefer Chris Simms. Culpooper isn't the answer.

Word is that Pittsburgh may sign both Leftwich and Culpepper, so the Cowboys may have waited too long to address backup QB.

While I would like McCown, I think Miami keeps him and releases Beck (who I think is useless anyway).

It seems that the team is stubbornly determined to wait for Simms to be released in Tampa and gambling that he would quickly learn the offense.

SD's#3, Whitehurst, would be a nice #2 for Dallas. I love his poise and his knowledge of the game. Sort of like Brad, but w/a NFL QB's arm.

Charlie Whitehurst was a very good quarterback at Clemson, I saw him a lot living in North Carolina. He had a great sophomore season, had a pretty bad junior season for whatever reason, then rebounded with a strong senior season. He only had around 11 td's his senior year but his completion percentage was around 67 percent

You don't KNOW that. You are judging this all on Speculation after a PRESEASON game. What should be "Addressed" is how silly people like yourself look getting worked up over the shoddy play of BACK UPS in 1 PRESEASON game. Also take into account that we need Brad to HOLD THE BALL for the Kicker, something Romo was unable to do. Get a grip people.

When he hires a real GM then we can talk about being the best owner in the NFL... He certainly is good to his players. Our lack of urgency or desire to shore up spots we are weak at, make him an idiot (as GM he is a big part of making those decisions on bringing guys in). Our backup qb sucks, he is awful. Pennington's arm may not be as strong as it was, but he is an accurate passer and a smart football player. Johnson just can't play anymore. Culpepper, McCown if cut, or even Simms would be better. We went yet another year without doing anything at WR. Owens got another year older, and Crayton is at best a number 3. We needed to draft a WR this year and didn't do it again. Jones is an idiot. If I need to go on I will.

I'm judging it on his utter lack of arm strength, which has been an ongoing problem for some time now...

I'm judging it on his teammates laughingly referring to him as "checkdown"... since you apparently don't know much about football, this means he's real fond of changing the play, and going to a short, dump pass...

With Johnson at the helm, opposing defenses will stack the line of scrimmage, take away the running game and the short stuff, and dare him to beat them deep... which he simply can't do... IOW, with Johnson at the helm, the Cowboys' offense instantly becomes stagnant...

What should be "Addressed" is how silly people like yourself look getting worked up over the shoddy play of BACK UPS in 1 PRESEASON game.

There's just one LITTLE problem with your theory, dippy-- I've been saying this about Brad for months before he stunk it out in Sandy Eggo...

Also take into account that we need Brad to HOLD THE BALL for the Kicker

Oh, by all means, let's waste a roster spot on somebody whose only positive contribution will be as a holder... I mean, there's absolutely NOBODY else on the team who could POSSIBLY do a good job at that...

Get a grip people.

Go learn something about football, then get back to us... Brad Johnson has no arm left, at least, not an NFL-caliber arm... he was once very good, because he was heady, but he never had a cannon, and age has robbed him of what little arm he did have... so essentially, you've advocating the Boys put their trust in a noodle-armed old guy if Romo were to go down...

Jerry Jones isn't just the best owner in the NFL, he may be the best owner in all of professional sports. And he certainly is no idiot.

Jerry is an idiot. We should have tried for Pennington. Johnson is a waste of time. Time to go after Culpepper, or wait to see if the Fins drop McCown.
Culpepper wont sign with us because he wants to be/still thinks hes a starter

culpepper is injury prone, however, i think he'll fit into our team pretty well.... brad is so washed up i dunno what the coaching are thinking... sigh

It doesn't matter if you are injury prone when the most you are going to have to play is 2-3 games TOPS. I think he would be a very capable bus driver with all of the weapons around and would be a great number 2.

:bang2: he wasn't let go we tried to put him on practice squad but he didn't clear waivers. its too bad there wasn't any room on the team for him.
