Then coaching has to be held accountable as well.

What are they doing all week in practice?

probably playing madden and drawing up awesome qb choice plays to run on 3rd down.

T.O. signed a one year contract with Buffalo so we can get him back next year. At least Romo usually knew where he was.

I agree with you. Of course this is not all our coaches fault. These guys have all gotten by on sheer athleticism and talent all of their lives because they were superior athletes compared to most of the guys that were guarding them. You can't do that in the NFL. They have to be willing to take coaching but like most of todays athletes they don't do it. Ask yourself this how many times do you see one of our receivers ever work back towards the qb when he is in trouble or when the ball is in the air? Watch Hines Ward he is great at this. Coming back to the ball keeps the DB from making a play most of the time. Like I said it is a coaching point but they have been getting away with it forever so they have never learned to do it right. Give me a guy like Steve Largent who is slow as death but runs great routes over a superior athlete who can't run routes any day.

I thought we couldn't run slants because T O couldn't, but we still can't run a slant.

Why can our WR's NEVER get open, unless it is a broken play?

We have to look long and hard at ourselves when Kyle Orton and a first year HC beats you.

Bottom line? We need more speed on the outside. Crayton and RW11 are scaring no one. Watching them try to get open for Romo is like watching paint dry.

The mystical Slant Route has been worshipped as the savior of this team forever. We can't run a come back, we can't run a fade, we can't run a go, as a matter of fact, I'm having a hard time thinking of a route we do run well other than the Witten Route.

So since Troy is know all be all. What happened on those plays when Tony absolutely couldnt hit the WIDE OPEN WR and also got ole RW obliterated.

Anyone?

It was a perfect pass that would very likely been a TD if Champ Bailey hadn't given RW an illegal chuck 15 yards down field. Conveniently the refs missed that one.

Heh, I like that. The Witten Route. Which isn't really a route, it's basically, find the opening and go there.

I noticed that, and every time they showed the replay of Roy getting whacked, they cut that part out.

Been saying this all year. RW not a number one the rest are what they are, low round draft picks and free agenst types.

We had WRs open all game, Romo couldnt hit them to save his life. I am tired of defending this guy he gave this game away.

Exactly! RW was wide open when Romo almost got him decapitated. So was Austin when he overthrew him too in the same series. The only consistent thing about Romo this year has been his inconsistency.

Romo missed several plays, but really, the receivers are a big liability. The "double move" RW gave on the play where he was injured was one of the most ponderous routes I've seen in a long time.

At one point Denver sent 8 on a 3rd and 7 and left RW, Crayton, and Austin one-on-one. Not a single one of them beat his man.

None of these guys are reliable, go-to type of receivers.

He's a strider who takes time to get going. He doesn't have any real burst in or out of his cuts. Irvin was no speed demon either, but he sure as hell had sneaky quickness.

Could it be because Roy getting whacked is what made the play worthy of replays?

Troy also said that Romo was missing badly on his passes to receivers. I agree that receivers weren't getting open early but in the 4th quarter there were plays to be made and Romo didn't make them.
And I do not disagree - Romo is playing gunshy right now. He has lost his confidence, and is now not playing naturally, but is trying to micromanage his game to the point of distraction. One on one coverage is basically open in the NFL. But we don't get separation, and when we did today, Romo looked itchy in the pocket and was errant in his throws.

while we can have 5 DBs in against 3 Giant Wrs, and they still burn our secondary

all those guys are quick, our guys aren't, even blazing, fast Austin takes his time getting into his routes

Yeah that's what I'm really getting tired of seeing. You can take the scum of the NFL and put them against Baltimore and they'll still come up with some plays here and there. When teams face off against us, their WR are running completely free throughout the secondary. Completely uncontested. When the catch is made, the closest guy (Usually 5 yards away) comes in to make the tackle. EDIT: Or Whiffs.

Gotta love it.
