I think I like them all with the ball in their hands. I actually think that I prefer Tanner over Murray as a pure zone runner to be honest.

That said, I have little trust in either Tanner or Dunbar in pass protection.

Tanner is good, and I see the talent in him. I just don't think he'll see much playing time. That's why I'd like to see, and here's another idea, a trade for a decent guard with Tanner as bait.

The only thing about that idea is Murray and Dunbar haven't exactly stayed healthy, and Randle is unproven. But we think he's similar to Murray.

I see the upside on Tanner, and he's stayed healthy, and he's been very good. So that's why I think he'd make decent trade bait for a run-of-the-mill guard... or even a draft pick.

Problem the league is filled with backs like tanner so what real trade value can you get? He runs hard but he lacks vision. This is the first Dunbar has been hurt right? I don't recall him being injured last year. I think he will be just fine. As long as Randle picks up the blocking portion then he should be just fine. Personally I think Tanner is the odd man out. That 4th spot can go to another player who will be apart of the Gameday plan. Likes Frampton/Moore/McCray/killer etc...

Is it me or is this the best overall group of RBs we've had in a decade or longer?

We need a short yardage downhill runner. My thoughts , before Dunbars injury, was to cut Tanner and pick up this type runner from other teams cut and place him on PS, so when needed he would be available and hopefully knows the playbook by then. This would save a spot on the roster, help the cap space and give the team a more complete set of running styles.

You are probably right about that, however, considering what we have had in the last decade that really isn't saying much.

Demarco Murray - Even now, he has much to prove. Can he stay healthy? Is he what we think he is or is he another flash in the pan like Marion Barber, Julius Jones, and Felix Jones?

Lance Dunbar - I'll admit it. I wasn't sure why he made the team last year. He showed flashes in preseason, but nothing that really sold me on him as a player, whereas, Phillip Tanner, at least in preseason, seemed like a monster. This year, I'm obviously starting to see why and Lance Dunbar has become a pet cat of mine.

Phillip Tanner - I mentioned in another post that there are days he reminds me a little of Emmitt Smith with his ability to hit the hole like a bowling ball, bounce of tackles, and maintain balance. And then there are other days when he looks like Julius Jones, running straight forward into the back of the OL and no further. So, I'm still not sure what he is, but with Dunbar out, I hope we have an opportunity to find out.

Joseph Randle - There is nothing flashy about his game; he is a jack of all RB skillsets, based on what I've seen to this point. I'd be suprised if he ever started anywhere, but he will probably be better than anything in FA, should a combination of the guy's above get injured.
