I’m generally not a cap guy so if I misrepresent anything please forgive me Capologist. Having said that I was looking at how the Chiefs were able to fix their Oline in one offseason last year and came into 2021 with 5 new starters and looked at our cap. Most of you know the salaries of our players but when you actually look at them together it’s staggering!

These are our top 7 paid players.

2022 Projected Cap number
Dak- $34,450,000
Dlaw- $27,000,000
Coop- $22,000,000
Martin- $20,191,000
Zeke- $18,220,000
Tyron- $17,505,000
Collins- $15,250,000

Total for 7 players- $154,616,000 for 2022.
2022 Cap- $208,200,000.

I realize that Dak has restructured, and we might cut a few but these are the current projections.

This is why when Stephen says the cap is a real thing he means it.

Dlaw, Tyron, and Collins missed significant time in 2021.

6 of the 11 starters on offense are on that list and to be honest I didn't think the offense was very good towards the end of the season. I did look at the projected cost for some of the top FA WRs and Cooper was in that range so it's not like you're going to cut him and sign someone way cheaper to replace him.

Yep. We have to find away to retool the Oline with cheaper players that can perform. Three of our top 7 players play Oline and it’s underperforming. It’s not just LG and Center.

Let's face facts here....

Coopers deal was for two years from the word go. I hope everyone doesn't feel like we "wasted the draft pick if we don't sign him" as much as they did two years ago.

Although I appreciated him and thought it was worth the 1st for him, I wanted to remain a run first team that emphasized tight ends and played keep away.

Having all these wide outs and featuring Dak as a passer really paid dividends didn't it? But at least we got two more years out of Amari and didn't waste the pick. My goodness.

Lawrence is a good player, but we are now in the fluff back end years of a deal that neither the player or team ever expected to see.

He isnt a restructure. He is a cut and resign if he wants to stay.

Last year he finally proclaimed he desire to win (at the same time alluding to that not being the case beforehand), so he should probably move on.

He ain't winning a ring here, not unless things change big time.

Him telling rookies not to listen to the HC because Jerry is really in charge isn't something we need.

Jerry Jones foolishly made this guy a very rich man in an attempt to validate trading up for him.

But....probably time to stop paying Tony Tolbert like he is Charles Haley.

I just....STILL cant quite put my finger on why we can't win.

Zeke, Tyron, Collins, Coop, and Dlaw missed significant time and underperformed. You can’t have that and expect to compete.

i know that we’re still gonna basically have the same roster, or less of it ,and the addition of some rookies. The money guys have to produce at some point…..excuses seem to be given every season….and I believe the roster was pretty healthy in the playoffs

Word is they're spending time figuring out how to fix the OL in the draft. Our first round pick is right in the sweet spot for a very good offensive lineman. If a good one falls to round two I wouldn't complain if they used another. Also, Steele made a huge improvement from year one to two and he was an UDFA. It's all together possible that the two guys we used draft picks on last year, Ball and Farniok, make similar improvements.

Interesting list when you consider performance among their peers by position. Telling.

I would say bye to all but Dak, Draft OT and DE in first 2 rounds, then a OG and RB in the next, time for the younger players to step up,, we already have OT, C and G that needs to start playing and DE and WR that can be players if given the opportunities.. we have lost with the high price beef we have time to see what the past drafts can or will produce..

so realistically, without spewing hate and doing any bashing because you are mad.

Dak is going to get restructured. cutting/trading him would have a 80M cap hit and lets be honest, he is nto going anywhere, so we have to build a team around him strong enough to over come deficiencies (OL, Running game). I think about 12-15M cap savings.
DLaw will probably get cut. has been injured the past few years. Post June 1 designation would save 18M on the cap
Coop will probably be cut. not worth the 22M. he is top 5 paid, but realistically is not top 15 WR in the league.....that would have 16M in sacings
Martin will get restructured... probably save 6M
Zeke will get restructured, but probably here through 22 and then cut in 23 if he is not top 3 RB in the league. probably save 5 M
Tyron is here for another couple of years, but his replacement should be drafted....he will get restrucured. probably save 4 M
Collins will get restructured. probably save 4M

so we can easily open up 60M on the cap

and then probably having to resign Schultz, Gregory, Kearse, Wilson and maybe Gallup instead of Coop...gallup may come cheaper

the can can only be kicked down the road so far……ironically enough all 3 of those players disappeared in the playoffs. I’d swap all 3 out for a King Cobra and 2 slaps to the mouth
A forty of that stuff will do you in!
