I would think any addition at WR in the draft would be mid range pick.

Only way I could see a selection ealier like the 3rd rd is if a player they really liked were to be sitting there as was the case with DeMarco Murray

First, let's correct something. We haven't lost either Ogletree or Holley as of yet. Having said that, if we had wanted them, we could have tendered them. One or both could still be back, but I seriously doubt it.

Now, Stephen Jones has gone on record as saying they feel very confident with some of the young guys they have on the roster--specifically Holmes, Harris, and possibly even Radway. But we all know that they've said that before, and still went to get someone like Robinson.

Honestly, I think the fact that they were able to get Robinson just before the start of the season last year means they won't look at FA just yet, barring someone being willing to sign for minimum money for a year like Robinson did...and that likely won't happen until much later in the offseason.

Instead, I think they'll keep their eyes open for someone they have rated in the first few rounds and slides to them in rounds 3-5. At that point, if they think they can get a value slot guy who has return ability, for example, I think they'll pull the trigger. Otherwise, they'll sign some UDFAs to compete in camp with the three youngsters they've already got, and then look to FA later IF those guys don't show them enough.

I could see a guy like a TY Hilton selected should he be there in the 4th rd

Fuller for A&M later in the draft could be an option. It was reported the Cowboys were looking at him during the pro day workout

Another place to watch will be Dallas Day when the 'Boys host a slect number of potential draftees along with a bunch of guys from the immediate area. They are notorious for drafting these guys, particularly in the later rounds.

Funny though last year Murray was shocked that Dallas took him because he never worked out for them nor talked to him. :laugh2:

The issue I have is that we will likely have to draft a TE as well. Given how much we value TEs, I think we could look for one in the top four rounds as well.

If we need both skills positions, and draft them between picks 2 and 4/5, it limits us to also get a center, DL, lb, and another cb.

If possible, I would prefer to get a cheaper wr in FA.

We may get a TE but it depends on what they are looking for. A replacement for Witten? or a blocking TE if it is the later Dallas may look late in the draft or even an UDFA.

Right now with Witten in Phillips we have two good receiving TE a 3rd at this stage I think is a blocker. I would also add I think Dallas will use less 2 TE and more 2 RB with Vickers who you can also put into motion.

Well I would rather see the addition of a dynamic TE than seeing Vickers in motion. Guess I'm hoping for a vet WR (Royal) or we will have to draft a dynamic TE, cause on 3rd down, we will need one of the two.

Only problem is we have more needs than picks right now.

We have Witten we have Phillips even the TE we talked to was more of a blocking TE than anything else. I don't see the Cowboys investing big money in a 3rd TE to block. If we were looking for top TE then we will end up using a high pick to do so.

I can see the Cowboys getting a WR mid rd of the draft to add to the group we currently have.

But given how productive the Running game was with a true FB last year I think Dallas should take more advantage of that.

That's what I am thinking as well.

IMO, it's preferable to get a decent wideout in FA. And other guys will be released as well. Maybe S Moss and guys like that.

I wasn't meaning picking a TE up in free agency, I meant in the draft. Although I'm not a huge fan of it, I can see the reason why they would choose a TE high in the draft, would rather have that and pick up a vet WR.

Yeah at some point we do run out of picks. 3rd WR, even though I like some of them in the draft, is starting to drop on the level of importance to this team. We have to fill some of these spots with vets, and 3rd WR would be a perfect one not to have to worry about in the draft.

We will see but I don't think they have to. We can easily go with Witten and Phillips if they feel the need to get a blocking TE they are not that hard to find. To get a prospect that is an all around TE or great catching TE we would likely have to use a high pick. I just don't think it would be a good move. Get an late draft pick or UDFA blocking TE. I don't think they are looking for Witten replacement right this min

Royal is gonna get paid by either Washington or San Diego, so I doubt we even kick the tires. Definately wouldn't mind Ted Ginn Jr.

I wouldn't mind Crayton to be honest he was pretty good in that #3 role here last time

Only Robinson was lost. Ogletree and Holley were sent on their way.

Draft is loaded with WRs this year. Which also leads to guys getting cut in TC like Robinson did last year. Way too early to be stressing about 3rd WRs. I agree with Sdogo TE gets addressed in the draft early though.
