Thought that was interesting, smith to us in the third.

Not sure how familiar people are with ourlads, but norm hitzges uses them and rick gosselin exclusively and always claims how close the two are to the actual draft...anyway here is there mock. Completely different from anything else I have seen.

22DAL Piscitelli, Sabby SOregon S
53DAL Beekman, Josh OGBoston College

That's the reaction I had. I wouldn't mind Smith in the 3rd, but I'd poop my pants if those were our first 2 picks.

Plays for Oregon State and is actually pretty good , but will be the sixth or 7th safety taken and will be lucky to be selected on day one .

They have Blalock, Bowe, Nelson and Revis a lot lower then anyone else's mock draft.PFW has Sabby Piscitelli going in the 3/4 round . They say he looks much better in shorts, has a reputation as a "pretender" and his best bet is backup box safety and special teams, plus he has questionable ball skills.

That's what I'm saying (asking). Never heard of the guy.

Don't know that I would be completely opposed to Smith, though. Could be a Slash or Randle El type player. I'd definitely try to convert him. He'd be stupid to think he's NFL QB material. Ask Ryan Leaf.

you have to remember this mock and this site is run by real scouts who are actually applying overall grades to the players and then assigning them into those positions of the draft.

I am not sure they are looking at need when doing this first mock.

and by the way, vic carucci who is just a writer from buffalo has us taking darrell reevis at 22, while a real scout has graded him at 50 on ourlads.

I am hoping drew stanton slips to us. I dont think jerry will take a qb at 53 and I dont think he will make it to the third round for us.

Also notice how far jarvis moss and blaylock fall in this mock....

NFL Draft Scout has the guy as the 7th ranked strong safety and projects him going in the 4-5th rounds.

I'm not sure the "real scout" carries with any real meaningful distinction. Other companies have been doing this professionally for years and have proven to be pretty accurate, regardless of whether they were ever actually employed as an NFL scout.

This has nothing to do with your post but I gotta show some love to that SIG picture! I'm a huge fan of the Three Stooges..

I would have to agree with you, but I am sensing that we both might be eating our words when Smith does well SOMEWHERE ELSE. I hope Dallas doesn't get him, he is short and couldn't perform under pressure against the Gators OR against IL, yeah that is right IL. I don't know if you guys remember remember that game against IL, he did win but barely and he didn't do much in that game. But this guy, IMO, isn't really the QB material, the one who will lead the team to come from behind to score a late 4th quarter scoring drive.

I would have to say that most OLs and DLs in college are, in average, shorter than the ones in the NFL. Even with that, Smith couldn't get a good visibility over them to have a clear passing lane. He would usually scramble around and then through. You are never sure though, I mean look at Brees and the year he had and he is barely 6, I think.

Please Mr. Jones, don't get Smith.:pray2:

I'd rather throw darts and take whatever players name we hit than have that draft.

Very strange mock.

Purely a guess on my part, but based on Tim Shaw going in round 1, i think this mock is weighing the combine VERY heavily.

I know us Penn State fans thought Shaw would probably go in round 4 or 5 before the combine and now after it many are thinking he has a shot at round 3, but definitely not round 1.

again these are real scouts ranking players so far. Not forecasters like mel kiper and you know vic carucci etc.

They have the best draft guide in the market and it is the book pros use to keep track and use for research, pros in the media that is.

anyway, this mock will change many times as more pro days come and go and no it is not bases strictly on the combine.

bookmark the site it is great. It will change many times.

and again they are not forecasters shooting darts at what teams needs are and then plugging in the best player at that position.

it is a nice peek into what some real nfl draft boards might look like. I found jeff irelands interview with norm this week very interesting when he said we have a horizontal board we use so we never draft for need.

I would imagine it would look something in the realm of what ourlads does. these are real scouts at all the post season bowls and then all the workouts.....constantly updating grades on players.

I believe they hit like 85 percent or something the last two years.

The guys that do NFL Draft Scout are the guys that put out Lindy's draft issue. They've got tons of media that use their stuff.

Like said, though, whether they're "real scouts" or not is meaningless considering the other guys have a long history of being correct. I'll take "correct" over "real scout" any day.

Here's the ranking of mock drafts, by the way:

umm like i sais I believe they hit on 85 percent last year.

Hey I am just putting it out there. I dont get this boards constant bashing of people for sharing information.

If you dont like the site fine. Dont go to ourlads. And again, you are trying to match the player to the team at this point like it is in concrete, the mock will continue to change and as it gets closer it will be geared towards the teams stats and needs.

Like I said right now I think it is a nice peek into what a scouts board would look like, I honestly didnt even look at the teams, just the numbers.

See the edit. I posted a link to a ranking. They're actually not ranked that high in terms of accuracy. I don't know enough about Ourlads to say whether I like them or not. I was just commenting on your use of the term "real scouts" and its implication on accuracy in predicting players' position in the draft.
