Overshown fined for late hit on Dart

So taunting gets a bigger fine than a late hit?

Thanks, folks. I knew how much the fine would be Tuesday (link). The league has the amounts codified, although they sometimes fidget with the totals because of the supposed severity of how the player acted (and that's totally subjective).

When the fine would be levied was my question. I still do not like how inefficiently the dispensing of discipline is carried out, even if the process has been mutually agreed upon by the owners and players' union.

Both the player and penalty are identified at game time. The fine amount is set. Just get it over with by Wednesday afternoon following the completion of the league week. Any longer and it seems like they cannot complete such a simple task as that. The NFL sometimes works at the speed of a telegraph, lol.

They review all of it at one time. Ever infraction on big or small. They have to notify the player and the union in writing and then they release a memorandum on Saturday for everything that happened the week prior but they don’t start until Tuesday so they can include the Monday night game

I guess the intention is that having the process formalized and structured so it’s one meeting to review every infraction, they ensure that the fines and discipline are consistent. I’m sure on rare occasions some of the plays get reviewed for possible suspension.

Understood. I am just an observer of the process, but I believe it is still inefficient--especially for the 21st century.
