Yes sir. I'm just a little reluctant to proclaim his doom already.

I know modern medical treatments are pretty awesome. Just had my (extremely degraded) hip replaced, and although it is considered a safe-ish easy procedure...was up and walking quickly, barely see the scar. The problem now is the rest of my body keeping up with it. I still have trouble imagining the doc cutting my leg off...he said "well we don't cut the WHOLE thing off"

I also believe in will power and hard work...which we know 'shown has. Some people just work harder and have a mental aptitude...."positive energy" if you will.

And finally...I think it would be good for 'shown's long term health to come back just a tiny bit...slower A half gear down. Or put a restrictor plate on it.:)
 
Medical procedures to repair injuries like his improve every year. Injuries like his, even 5 years ago, would have a very different prognosis.

I give him a better than 50-50 chance and I would say a good part of it depends on him. Players that stick to the recovery regimen tend to come back stronger than players who maybe do not work as hard. It takes a lot of commitment to rehab an injury for months and months.

Having said that, there is still a good chance he comes back a little slower than he was. We have ample evidence of that. Jaylon Smith, Terence Steele, and even Dak. All different injuries but they showed how an injury can have lasting effects on a player.

My concern is even if he does come back, is he going to be a player like Sean Lee whose biggest challenge is staying on the field. As good as Overshown looked, he is useless if he can't play.

The video is a big clue on the challenge Overshown has. Compared to the three examples listed in this thread, Allen, Chubb and Gore, Demarvion is taller and his lower body composition is significantly lighter.

He is a lanky thin LB with a couple of serious leg injuries. Not a good mix for a long future in the NFL in his positin group.

Whoever thinks he can come back the same player is simply denying science and medicine.

The ones thinking he’ll come back the same player here are zero surprise to me.

Actually him being tall and lanky is probably the best for the type of injuries he’s had.

I go with what the science and medicine say. It says that it’s very unlikely for a football player to tear everything in their knee and come back the same player.

You go off your feels.
 
Over shown is likely cooked.

It would be a minor miracle for him to come back and be the same guy.

Same goes for DIGGS btw.

The cowboys front office should move to replace them immediately. We all know they won’t though. They’ll sell us a bag of goods about how “they’re coming back soon, rehab is ahead of schedule, they look great out there, etc”

I guess I am going to go with the video posted in this thread and say, "The tape don't lie."

HIs lower body is extremely thin, and that to me will not translate into a position group where contact is your primary purpose. Not avoidance. Contact.

For everyone's consumption: Htgs and Wtgs of some relatively decent LBs.

These are the publicly listed weights of these past NFL LBs coming out of their drafts. One would expect that they put on some extra muscle in the league.

The inference is weight (mass) and body composition is as good an indicator of your ability to withstand the rigours of NFL LB play. Overshown in the video and his listed playing numbers doesn't give me a lot of confidence. Take a good look at the number for Zach Thomas (13 yrs) and London Fletcher (16 yrs). These two individuals are built like a brick **** house.

I want things to really work out for this kid, but risk mgmt tells me we should not be relying on him as other posters in this thread have stated.

I would guess LBs have a lot fewer knee injuries than RBs….people are always cutting a runners legs, it doesn’t happen nearly as much to LBs, who are normally giving the blow, not taking it.
