The Overshown pick is a curious one to me.

I don’t dislike the player and have seen him flash plenty but have also seen him out of position and on his posterior quite a bit. I see his tackling grade is poor and he’s credited with having a career tackling miss rate of 19.2% - not a good number. But again, watch Texas games and this rangy guy with unusual LB twitch is in your screen. I’ve always rooted for him but he’s an enigma to me which leads to my question for all of you.

It's easy to see why Fassel was lurking in the war room before DO was announced, but what’s Quinn’s plan for him? Maybe someone familiar with DQ coaching philosophies can shed some light on why Demarvion was the target at pick 90?

Please, let's not make this a "hate the pick" thread. This is me looking for insight as to how this player fits in a Quinn defense.

Seems like they put a lot of emphasis on STs when making the pick.

Second paragraph is an excellent summary of the player that I saw. He's a guy you notice for good reasons -- fast, makes dynamic plays -- and bad -- misses tackles, bad reads. He's a converted safety, and was clearly better this year, so the hope has to be that he'll continue to develop as a linebacker and that Quinn will find a use for his skills.

They're talking about him on the Draft Show with some Cowboys scout and he's talking about how much he plays like Donovan Wilson & how he can be a special teams ace.

He’s a player on the rise. He came to UT as a safety. Then he was asked to convert to linebacker during the COVID season so he only had ~2 weeks of on the field practice. The next season he had surgery (I believe it was his shoulder) during the off-season. This past season he said he finally felt comfortable as a linebacker and you saw the results on the field.

We’ve been missing an actual threat at linebacker opposite of Micah. LVE and Barr offer nothing when blitzing. Overshown is a middle and shown natural ability to time and get through.

Overshown is a defensive Swiss Army knife.

When a guy is fast, can matchup with anyone on the field, tackle, and potentially rush the QB then what’s not to like?

You put big lumbering players on the field on 3rd downs and you’re asking for trouble.

QBs can run like RBs and TEs and RBs can play like WRs now days.

Overshown is a matchup player. He’s good at everything.

I love the pick.

I’m also intrigued with seeing what he can do as a pass rusher. There is rumors that he may have something in that department as well.

Think he wins the WILL year 1 over Clark?

They needed to add another LB and I think he was top on their board. He's a hybrid linebacker lots of talent needs refined I think he will be fine under DQ. His tackling will probably improve.

He may be great but I never liked LBs who has problem diagnosing plays or lack instinct. I rather draft a LB with slightly less speed but far better instinct. One false step or delay in diagnosing a play easily close 0.5-1 sec. Where as these guys 40 tome differ by like what… 0.2 sec? That’s over 40 yd!
