Overtime Rule Change

About time. They have the most stupid rules of OT.
They need to go back to the 15 minute OT as well.
Or just play the entire 10 minutes, or 15, no matter how often both teams score.
Player safety is at no more risk than it taking 8 minutes for a team to win, over playing the full amount of time.

First team with the ball scores a TD and has to kick the extra point. If this happens then the other team gets a possession and must go for 2 if scoring a TD. If the first team misses the extra point then the second team can kick the extra point instead of going for 2.

God forbid these teams have a game coming up in a few days like the Cowboys have close back to back games, and they're playing an extra over time period!!! Player safety!! lol

No, no, no, keep it simple and equal for both teams. A coach will push the envelope before long and go for 2 by themselves to end things.

That works, and if the 15 minutes runs out, then it's a draw in the regular season. I still argue that, in the post season, after 2 15 minute OT periods, they go to a field goal shoot out.

Remember when Dallas beat Philly, and used up around 9 minutes or so on the clock. Even if they did not get that TD, and settled for a FG. Philly had no time left to get into FG range, unless a fluke play.

I think that was Witten's 1st TD he caught from Dak.

They are complicating the rules. It's an abomination to the game. The rules were fine before. The shenanigans will never end.
no shenanigans. This is more fair. Both teas get a chance to score, regardless if one team lucked out and won the toss and scored a TD. Now the opponent also gets a chance to score a TD. The game should never be determined by a coin toss.

It's already that way. Pretty much. Just stop the other team that wins the coin toss from getting a td . I'm not seeing what's unfair about that. It forces a team to make a stop, force a fg attempt. It's fine as is. Both teams get a chance providing you stop a td. If not, you lose. That's fair.

It's not. It only forces you to defend and prevent the TD. If you can't, game over you lose.
