I think he just wants to not get injured and play the entire season, because I guess he beleives this is THE YEAR.

t.o. has always had lots of drops. this year he has 8 which for him is about average. the differense has been the drops where in such crucial situation. he has dropped 3 tds and a 4th down pass that would have been a td but his production is as it always has been. t.o. will drop a few but he will make some great plays too.thats just t.o.

Watching him in warmups, I was amazed at how poor his hands are. He fights the ball and double-catches almost everything. Clean catches by him were the exception, not the rule.

So I don't know if he's scared of anything so much as he just doesn't catch the ball cleanly. And in that particular game, at the beginning, he might even have had his confidence shaken a little.

And sure, in a blowout of a bad team like Tampa, those early drops didn't make any difference. But in a tight game against a good team where every play is a big play -- like, say, against the Bears in the playoffs ;) -- those drops could cost you a game.

Obviously Owens is here to stay for a while, but the drops *are* a problem IMO and I wish he'd at least try to correct his flaws. Guess it's too late to teach an old dog new tricks, though.

I am satisfied with TO's performance up to this point, but he has actually dropped 4 TDs in my opinion, 3 in the endzone and 1 against Washington that would've been a sure 75 yard score. Against Tampa, he did avoid contact on some plays after making the catch, but he made those catches. One was a TD. A couple of other ones were for first downs. I'll take that any day. No matter how much a guy is paid, it doesn't change the fact that he is human. All receivers have drops from time to time. I'll take TO over just about anybody in the league.

As someone else mentioned, TO is blending in with this very talented offensive arsenal. He very quietly leads the team in receptions every game and he seems to feel like he is a part of the TEAM. I think he's beginning to realize the type of success you can have if the guys around you are important too.

I would think that lends to the theory that the hand is still bothering him. Owens past trouble with catching the football was more to trying to run before he had control of the football. There were even comments in camp of what great hands that he had.
