Fortunately my daughter will be attending USC in the fall...that should be enough for any father ! Also, checkin is the week of August 17th ! So I will be in LA and get a chance to go to Cowboys training camp. Any do's and don'ts from the cowboys faithful ?? Once in a lifetime chance for this East coast fan.

What a fun trip. Helping your daughter get settled in at USC and Cowboys training camp!

Might as well add Disneyland to the agenda and make it a trifecta. :)

The drive along the PCH to Oxnard is amazing, a little longer but worth the trip IMO.

If you're driving up to Oxnard from L.A., allow at least three hours before practice starts in order to secure a spot on the fence. Then just sit in the grass and endure the 70-degree temperatures until the players start coming out.

This is much, much better than any stadium experience. It's like having one of those front row seats on the court at an NBA game, but for a fraction of the price. Plus, there are always players who make themselves available before and after practice for autographs and pictures.

I was there on day 2 last year, got there 40 minutes before practice started and that was plenty of time. I sat in end zone bleachers to watch offense and combined practice. Spent a considerable amount of time on the defense field and stood 9 feet from the players.

Agree, the back field is the way to go. You can get there just before the start and still get a great view. Let the lemmings fill up the front :)

cant wait ! my daughters are excited as well, this feels like the season to me, my oldest was born in 1993 and I video'd me putting the crib together and made a comment that I could be watching the pregame for the superbowl, special time for me on two counts !

Join the Fan Club for $20 (that's what it was) and with that you get the wrist band to get on the fence along with discounts on team merchandise (even at the stadium) and it lasts for a year. Jerry will also send you a nice welcome letter in the mail.

A few take aways--

Percy is right about the drive and the weather it's so perfect your body won't trust how nice it is. Bring sun screen and maybe a jacket, it can get cool when the sun goes down.

Fans will be from all over the country. As you walk through the parking lot look at all the out of state license plates and the clever Cowboy monikers they have - it's really cool.

You will get a great appreciation of the speed and violence of the game. It can get chippy and you can always count on Scandrick and Dez (he'll be there) for some nice expletive trash talk.

You'll also get a real up close feel for Garrett, his enthusiasm, attention to detail, etc.

On your way up PCH stop in and see KJJ in Malibu - ask him for a ride in his Lambo and lunch at Gladstones (great place right on the beach) - he can afford it!

Have Fun!!!
