Some of us mention about possibly packaging picks and player(Ellis,Bobby) on draft day to move up..

I was wondering..when has this happened? I can't remember one time where this actually occured.

I can't remember the last time, but I know that San Diego traded two firsts, a second and probowler Metcalf to move up 1 slot.

Edit: ^^^^^The famous Ryan Leaf trade.

I don't remember either.....

Who would want the garbage off our team that even forum fans know will probably get cut at the start of the season? What trade value can someone like carpenter possibly possess? Hes played 3 games in 3 years...he's worthless.

In exchange for San Diego's #1 pick, with which Atlanta selected Vick, the Chargers received Atlanta's #5 pick (used to draft Tomlinson), Atlanta's third-round (67th overall) pick, which San Diego used to select Tay Cody, and Atlanta's second-round pick in 2002, which San Diego would use to select Reche Caldwell. San Diego also received Atlanta's wide receiver Tim Dwight.

Or do you mean when have the Cowboys done it?

No that's exactly what I wanted to know..Cowboy related or not. I just couldn't think of a scenario where it actually happened. Seems to be pretty rare.

Dwight was one of the most under-utilized players in recent memory.

Was easily one of the top ten fastest men in the NFL. Yet he was "too small" Football is not played on paper, and when he was given a chance on the field, he produced.

It's unlikely they would trade up with a player. But they did trade Fasano/Ayodele to Miami for a 4th right before last years draft. Thats the kind of deal that would happen if they traded a player.

I don't know if it's the four papers I've written in the past two days that's making me think these crazy things, but...

what if Dallas is still planning on moving Scandrick to FS in a starting role, and also (please spare me, I know this sounds crazy) putting ?Sensabaugh? in the starting role at SS. Maybe the coaches who have worked with him think he can start for this team. SO what happens to Hamlin??? What if Dallas is plannig on packaging him and another player/pick to move up into the first round to grab somebody they've been eyeing out?
OK, :lmao:please, I understand,:bang2: crazy, I know you want some of that stuff I'm smoking, but it is the off-season and I needed to get away from these stupid papers. but really guys, whadaya think?
Again im just putting this out there..:D

Wasn't a draft day trade but some guys named Jimmy Johnson and Jerry Jones has some player by the name of Herschell Walker on their roster. They decided to trade him for 5 players (LB Jesse Solomon, DB Issiac Holt, RB Darrin Nelson, LB David Howard, DE Alex Stewart) and six draft picks (which led to Emmitt Smith, Russell Maryland, Kevin Smith, and Darren Woodson). That was 3 guys drafted in the first round and 1 player (woodson) drafted 37th overall in the 2nd.

Different day and age but that's the one I remember for this team.

Yeah, old vets are totally devalued on draft day ... like trading your old beater car in for a shiny new Hyundai ... you think you're going to get value?

In war rooms, laser focus on the guy(s) they like who may be a "potential star" .. let's say, he's expected to be a 5-pick in the teams' estimation of where other teams will pick him, but because their regional scout has a brother that is an assistant coach at Ga. Southern (hypothetical), they think he's a sleeper and they're going to pick him in the fourth round .... if they get nervous, maybe the third round ....

He seemed Welker-like to me, but maybe not as precise a route runner but with better speed. Great hands and tough.

Spot on assessment. Welker can get open on anyone underneath. That wasnt Tim, he was a good not great route running. But nobody is going to catch him from behind, thats for sure. And he was a tough SOB. Man oh man. Dude played 3 quarters with a punctured lung once. Hard worker, and would do anything he was asked.

I hate the Patriots, but the one year that he went to NE, was the one year in their four year span of winning titles that they didnt bring home the Lombardi. He did everything he could in Super Bowl XXXII against Denver thats for sure.

That worked out well for them didn't it? :lmao:

didnt we select Steve Wisniewski in 1989 then trade him to the raiders so we could take Mark Stepnoski?

Yes, but that was pick for picks. The only reason the Cowboys drafted him was because they ran out of time for the trade so Jimmy just asked Al who they wanted there and made the selection for him.

So we are going to package those guys to move up 3 spots in the 7th round?

Or Wayne Chrebet, or Danny Amendola, Joe Jerivicous, Matt Jones....
