Hello everyone. I'm new to this site and was just wondering if any of you guys think the cowboys could package Roy Williams(SS) and Bobby Carpenter. I would think they have SOME value. Letting those guys go for draft picks could save roughly 3 million to help keep Burnett, not to mention extra draft choices. Similiar to what we did with Ayodele and Fasano last year. I'm sure Parcells would be interested!

:welcome:

Imo, I hope we keep Roy, I am still holding out hope for him. I know ya got it in you Roy, PLEASE COME BACK! :(

PS- I am pretty sure I read Roy holds a 6.6 million salary cap figure this year.

another PS-Pete Carroll said Taylor Mays is staying put at USC this year :( even though we don't have a chance at him.

You would get very little compensation for Carpenter.
If we plan on letting him go, I'd say it's a smart move.

RW, as far as I believe, has 1 more year on his contract. I think most teams would be reluctant to shell out too much, knowing that by us wanting to trade him, we probably would not resign him.

Yes because they would bring us so much in trade.

And what are you planning on doing at safety if we don't draft one, and even if we do whats to say he will be ready?

But anyway, :welcome:

Ya I figured we wouldnt get much..but didnt we get a 3rd and 5th for Fasano and Ayodele? Anything similiar would have to be tempting, since Ive given up all hope for Carpenter..Maybe Parcells would still be interested in him since he coveted him so much.

Fasano was a former 2nd rounder who flashed some real potential with us.

Aydole was a solid starter on a pretty good defense. I don't remember the exact picks we got, but I'd assume the 3rd would have been for Fasano and the 5th for Aydole.

I think BP liked Carpenter alot because of his father. I guess Barbie doesn't have his dads toughness.

I also think that AJ Hawk made Carpenter look alot better than he was at OSU.

People say this but the evaluation of Carp was pretty consistently positive across the board by most scouting services. He was seen as a safe pick and as an NFL ready player.

Well I didn't mean that it was the only reason he drafted Carpenter. Obviously we and other teams probably felt him to be worthy of getting drafted high up.

All I'm saying is that if the cowboys could get a 4th for Carpenter that would be a no brainer!. He could still succeed in another system, just not ours

Let me put it this way: if you put Roy, Carp, and a stinky, stained sofa out on the curb tomorrow morning, the sofa would not be picked up last.

...and unless Burnett wants to sign cheap, kick him to the curb too.

What are you going to do? Trade them for a kicking tee?

Parcells doesn't want Roy and his $6.6 Mil cap hit anywhere near Southern Florida.

Who's this Carpenter guy?

I agree with the original poster.........I feel there are 31 teams who would jump head over heels to trade a few 8th round picks for Biscuit and Crapenter.

Roy can still prove to be a good player. His coverage is under average, correct? with his size and his actual abilities he would make a decent linebacker. especially in the nickel situations. we could use roy instaed of burnett. No for Barbie Carpenter, he just seems like a dolphins player to me, i do not know y, he jus does. so jus let the man go or trade the soft son of a gun.

If Burnett and Zach leave, then we would forced to keep Carpenter:rolleyes:

IIRC, Burnett is a free agent this year while Carpenter has one year left. Even if Burnett is a marginally better player, you don't overpay him when he's been one of the most injury prone players on your team for the last three years.

Personally, I don't want either one of them. Get some new blood.
