Well 24 teams need to agree to it. It was a bigger issue 2 years ago and Troy Vincent said they shouldn't take a play away just cause another team does it well. The only way they consider banning it is if it starts hurting people, not because a team can't stop it.
I don't know...the running QB seems to be stressing defenses out too much last couple of years.
Just easy yards and easy first down pick ups for hurts, mahomes, Allen. Sure, other running QBs aren't having as much success, but their teams aren't well run or they face a very good team in playoffs. It's why Baltimore hasn't won a trophy with Lamar yet.
Something is going to be adjusted at some point, imo.
Maybe the league leaves it to teams to figure out, but I think fans start complaining at some point, which will motivate the League to adjust something.
Either running QBs aren't allowed to slide anymore nor just fall to ground before contact, or they need to make coverage easier for defensive backs so teams can stack the box.
I don't buy the excuse of give and take with running QBs "but you get 5 and 10 yard sack losses too...it evens out". I don't have stats, but I think well run teams with running QBs are far outpacing their lost yards.
Good clubs, with good coaching and a running QB are stressing out defenses that are having to defend a pro-passing rules league while also having to contain a running QB.
It's too easy to scheme against defense.
