Packers linebacker Barnett arrested for battery

Has Barnett been in trouble before? If not he probably has some slack coming. Its only the thugs like Pacman who keep getting in trouble that will not get any slack at all. Which is as it should be.

You sound like I did at one time, one day when your not wet behind the ears you may actually understand what I'm saying but until then please share your whole 21 years of knowledge after all you must think everything that goes on today is some 1st and older people just don't have a clue. Well boy I have been there and done that before you were a wet dream

It's like when your dad realizes he can't hang with you physically anymore.

Except in a forum setting, and mentally, of course.

There's a whole host of posters (yes, mostly the elderly) who lack the mental capacity to discuss these current events in any respect other than "do you or don't you support the athletes" and so attempt to twist everything to their realm of mental understanding.

It's just tiresome already.

Come on, punk! You are smarter than that? If it makes you tired...you know you have the control to not let that happen, right?

:laugh2:

You're right - I do know that. Which is why once a lack of understanding is established, I won't engage on the topic.

Thanks for the "advice", though.

It's not advice, punk...just common sense.

No, I understand your "statement" fine. You think going out to these places is asking for trouble.

I disagree.

I think its the idiots who attend them that are asking for trouble.

Quit being an idiot and one can attend a strip club and have a fine, trouble-free time.

I think coaches have been preaching this to their players and some still don't get it. It is not always you doing something wrong it is putting yourself in places where things have a tendency to go wrong around you. You have people that tend to be fairly drunk around closing time and it could be something as simple as you looked at this guy the wrong way and next thing you know you got a problem. When the police show up they don't spend much time listening to the finger pointing they just haul in everyone and let the court determine guilt of innocence. In the mean time you still ended up in jail and in court and it still cost you even if you walk out free.

I agree with both of you and Doomsday101...both have valid opinions.

As long as you act accordingly, you will be fine. If you think you are invincible after drinking alot, or if you hang with the wrong crowd or are a celebrity that people recognize...you could be asking for trouble.

Actually, a few year back when I was not married, I asked this girl that I met at a club out on a date. I called her and asked where she would like to go tonight and she said, "Let's go to Northern Exposure"! (strip club)

I said, "What"??

She said, "Let's go watch the dancers..."! And, it was on!! We had no problems at all...but, there were some rowdy guys there, but nothing that we got into with them, just stayed to ourselves, drank, watched the strippers...then went home and....

Anyway, we dated for 4 or 5 months, and that's all she wanted to do. She eventually moved to California....

So, you can have it both ways. It's just up to the individual on how you want to act in public. Act like a jackfool...trouble will find you. Act like a decent human being...you will be fine.

;)

I'm suprised that Barnett would do that... he has kept his nose clean as far as I can tell in his career and he is a great ( tops in my books) player... I don't know what compells these guys to fight. He just signed a big fat contract and is set for life; he knows the rules of engagement here... he should be punished because Goodell set the rules which are pretty simple to me, and if you don't follow them then too bad.

Doomsday101;1531420 said:
Just responding to the sarcastic remark about Goodell. It is almost as if you want to blame him for taking a stand that many around the league have asked for because many want this league cleaned up.

:hammer:

It must be the ACLU mentality: no one is personally responsible for anything- its society's fault, or your parents, or SOMEBODY else's.

Interesting.

Goodell's approach to this epidemic (pandemic? echinacea?) certainly appears to be working wonders as a deterrent. If this is true, Barnett could either be fined 200 dollars, or have his nads chopped off.

Noone really knows.

Apparently Barnett's willing to roll the dice.

Come on SP. Give it some time. Plus the policy isn't solely about being a a deterrent. It will deter some, but the ones it doesn't will just be suspended and out of the league if they don't straighten up.

I see you post about others using extreme examples and made up numbers. Most times I agree with you assertions. Well, your example of Barnett's possible punishment is extreme. There just have not been enough cases under Goodell to say he has not been consistent. Three cases(Henry, Pacman and Tank) hardly say anything about Goodell. If anything, they say he is consistent in that all three guys got 8 to 10 games. You are better than that.

Well since it seems to be too much of a task for them to quit being idiots maybe they should stop going to these places. Hmm...maybe. Of course one could argue that if they were smart enough to know they are an idiot best served avoiding these places than they would run the risk of no longer being an idiot.

Amazing to me, how many good things happen at clubs after 12:00 AM. A message nobody seems to get. On the other hand, at least it's not another Bengal.

And no one got shot.

I take every one of these incidents as a sign Goodell is right on the money....

I can live with a plain old fight where no one brandishes weapons or gets shot.
But it's still to the point where these guys have to be aware they are targets for lawsuits.

I really dislike the Eagles/Skins.

If I was drunk at a bar and saw Buddy Ryan I am sure the old geezer would try to punch me because he like not a bit what I'd have to say to him.
