Packers pessimistic about Rodgers

Multiple people within the Green Bay Packers organization are pessimistic that Aaron Rodgers will return for Sunday's game against the Dallas Cowboys, a league source told ESPN.

While no determination has been made on Rodgers' status, a source told ESPN the Packers doubt that the quarterback -- who revealed Tuesday he suffered pain in his injured left collarbone while making simple movements on the practice field last week -- will be cleared to play.

A scan performed last week showed Rodgers' collarbone had not fully healed. He still must be medically cleared for game contact.

Rodgers took snaps with the backup centers while Matt Flynn worked with starting center Evan Dietrich-Smith at practice Wednesday.

Medical experts believe it is unlikely Rodgers will be cleared because he is less than six weeks removed from suffering the injury. A source told ESPN that complete bone formation typically requires eight to 10 weeks, meaning Rodgers would be taking a risk by playing before at least eight weeks of healing.

The Packers' medical staff is considered around the league to be conservative in returning players to the field prematurely from injury. Until sufficient bone healing has taken place, Rodgers is at risk for a non-displaced fracture that would require surgery and interfere with his offseason.

If its Flynn, we'll be fine. I know our defense will bounce back. Flynn isn't in sync with receivers like McCown was.

So. We catch a break. I say cowboys 31 GB 30. Were back!!!!!

What scares me, is RGx NOT playing !!! I think this will give the skins a chance!!!!

So what you are saying is to take the under on the Cowboys giving up 500 yards?

:p

If we don' at least get to the last game with a chance to win the division there is no way Garrett's back next year, playing GB and Wash with backups there shouldn't be any excuses.

That's a very good point. Sitting through that game playing against Philly's second team would be a long 3 hours and I could see a knee jerk reaction from JJ

agreed.

I like the sound of this. But it does surprise me a bit. They sure were acting after the game last week like they needed to get the win v. ATL in order to get back on track. I assumed that meant Rodgers was planning on being back in the lineup this week. But I won't complain. This game is obviously a better matchup for us with Matt Flynn in the lineup.

He took some snaps today with the first team. This could be a ploy to have us worry solely on him and take away some attention from Flynn.

This Packer team with Flynn at the helm and an injured Eddie Lacy, means they are about as bad as Jacksonville quite frankly. Perhaps worser.

If we can't beat a Packers team with Flynn as quarterback ... :(

The Packer without Rodgers ARE the worst team in the NFL. Jacksonville hasn't looked half bad recently.

True - but even they look to be without MJD this week.
