Packers propose banning Tush Push

It's boring to watch as a fan.

It could get perfected to the point it can't be stopped on short distances...turning into gimmee first downs. Boring

It could stress defenses out.

I don't care either way...I can forsee it getting out of hand
It could get out of hand, you’re right. But it isn’t out of hand right now. You’re banning something based on a fear that may never happen.

And if your reasoning is it’s a boring play, we can ban extra points, kneel downs, short field goals, touchbacks, throwaways. Or don’t get really really excited when a point return fair catches? Football is full of boring plays.

I'm not a fan of the pushing the QB.

It's boring because it's almost a gimmee play, and...I assume will be once teams start perfecting it.

And once that perfection happens, it's a gimmee, or...a team can stress out the defense with fakes out of the formation.

What makes me question if all this is real is:

1) why it's not perfected yet

2) why wouldn't OC's be scheming fakes off this formation

is there something preventing the offense from designating 2 backup lineman to come an as the pushers? If not, why hasn't that happened yet?

It's the pushing, against a defense that has to cover the whole field, that can't commit to stuffing this one play

I can see it becoming boring or out of hand, it's not there yet.

I am not a fan of the tush push but I am really not a fan of any play where the offensive player pushes pulls or carries the player with the ball forward. Technically, pulling or carrying the runner is still illegal although can can see there are times when the Eagles literally pick Hurts up off the ground and drive him forward from behind.

If they are going to ban the tush push, then they should ban any play where a runner is pushed, pulled or carried forward by a teammate. Otherwise they might as well keep the tush push legal.

The play created a gray area so that bots can hate on sissies that think the play is possibly unfair

Horse collar ban? Youre sissy. "I'm not willing to go get my leg snapped, but you're a sissy"

Same lame song, over and over and over again

NFL owners get together tomorrow in Palm Beach, FL. Over the next few days they’ll decide if the “tush push” is “NFL football” or not.

I'm not interested in what they think. That's a small group that could have hidden agendas

I don't care about who has ultimate power, doesn't mean they will get it right.

Weird post

Owners haven't done a darn thing about the extremely bad officiating...so I just checkmate you on the validity of the owners rulings

The owners have one agenda. And it’s not hidden. Money.

There are people that follow the NFL. There are people that make a living coaching, discussing and writing about the NFL. There are people that play in the NFL. There are people that own the NFL. It’s the owners that have the largest financial stake. The league will be what they say it is.

It’s only fair you are not interested in what the owners think. They are not interested in what you think.

You're still side stepping why they have to lie to to ruin something others enjoy, just to scrape every penny out of the illusion.

It doesn't have to be that way. You're fine with it, you must be profiting.

Ultimately, you think lying for money is ok

I enjoy following the NFL. Enjoy following pro and college football, in general. I don’t profit from it financially. I suppose they profit from me as I’m exposed to thousands of advertisements. I pay for TV services that allow me to watch football. The NFL ultimately profits from that. I no longer purchase swag. The last jersey I bought is a Rick Neuheisel San Antonio Gunslingers jersey. The last pro game I attended was British Columbia Lions at Sacramento Gold Miners CFL game in 1993.

The owners aren’t “lying” when they collectively make decisions they feel is in their best interests. NFL franchises are all worth $5 billion or more. A 1% decrease in value is $50 million. I’m OK with them taking steps they deem appropriate to protect their investment. I would if I was part of an NFL ownership group.

I'm a capitalist...everyone is. I'm no Capitalist hater.

I want the owners to make money. But every nickel possible? That leads to questionable business practices, in most cases, in my opinion.

Extreme pursuit of numbers turns beings bi-polar.

I guess the best way to say it is I'm not for "every penny" capitalism. It usually involves someone getting heavily screwed. Not reasonably capitalized on, heavily screwed.

I think you can make the case Jerry is screwing Cowboys fans for money. I truly don't think he cares about a trophy, I think the families number one goal is to make the playoffs and get eliminated early.

If that is the case, fans are spending their hard earned money and getting emotionally involved in a lie. Can't say I agree with that fully. Can't say I agree that 'sports entertainment' is a catch phrase only now, in 2025. Why not 35 years ago?

I guess since I know I can stop watching football anytime I want any anguish I experience in deference to football is of my own doing. When it stops being fun I’ll stop caring about it. I guess I’m addicted because I read blueblood’s posts in their entirety. Obviously I can endure anything Jerry Jones can decide to do.

The Jones' sources of income is not limited to the net profit they make owning and running the Cowboys franchise. They still make money in oil and are quite diversified business wise. Money was no object when we won Super Bowls when there was no salary cap and limited free agency, pre-late 90s. The Jones' organization lacks vision and agility when it comes to managing the salary cap and are stubbornly reactive and fall short on football IQ when it comes to adaptive long term team development.

If the Cowboys could take a 300 lb Ezekiel Elliott and use him like a bowling ball in a tush push with the same level of success that the Eagles did, there's a zero percent chance anyone here would be complaining.
We wouldn't be complaining because the NFL would ban it immediately.

The NFL is so biased against the Cowboys and Jerry Jones that they never show them on prime time or cover their stories because they have been so historically bad the past 30 years ~

Full text from Mike Garafolo's Twitter:

Spoke to Nick Sirianni today on the tush-push vote. With a grin, he said: "We’ll see how it goes. All I will say about it is (Jonathan) Gannon, (Shane) Steichen and (Kellen) Moore better vote for it. They are in the (head coach) position right now because of that play. So all three, I better have those three votes right there and the #Eagles’ vote. I at least know we have four.”

I believe it takes 9 votes to squash a rule change (over 25%). So that is in Philly’s favor there
