At least they sized the preseason down to 4 games. Sucks when you play in the HOF game and now have to play 5. Which is over a quarter of a regular season.

Preseason needs to be 3 games. No team even plays their starters ever in game 4 so there's no point. Yeah you can that game is to see who makes the final roster cut but they can figure that out by game 3.

Yeah, I like that the rookies get a chance to log live action but other than that, the players have plenty of action in 2 or 3 preseason games to get their conditioning and mojo going. To me, the ones that get the most out of those preseason contests are the rookies and others that lack the experience to play regularly. I hate to see our valuable vets be put at risk of serious injuries, just so the owners can pad their pockets.

LOL -- I'm thinking if it's any consolation, he'll be coaching the whole game! Does that count? :muttley:

Well, he will be on the sideline for the whole game. "Coaching"? I guess he needs the practice more than most

Yeah just think if we had the internet and social media back when the PS was 6 games long. We didn't have to wait and wait and wait longer for the real games to start. It's long enough now, but 6 games...wow...

Here is another thought....game one, we all we be whining that the starters did not get more snaps in the PS games, because they look flat. The the same after the first few games.....

I would bet my house that when Tony announces our first game, and they show him in the booth....someone will say he looks fat....LOL....

Absolutely....and, it always cracked me up to hear people say that about him...he never missed out on the pretty girls because of his OBVIOUS weight issue...(pants shakes head in disbelief)

The NFL really needs to cut down on the number of preseason games. ASAP. 3 games maximum. The rest are becoming a joke.

I remember when I was a kid, you'd see the starters play a good portion of every preseason game. These days, we're gonna be lucky to see more than 10 carries from Zeke the entire preseason. 8-10 other players will sit out at least 2-3 of the games. Heck, I question how much playing time someone like Jaylon will even get.

Teams have become so overly cautious, trying to keep guys healthy until the games matter, that the preseason is nearly unwatchable --- even for the biggest, most loyal of fans.

I have never been in this camp. The whole league in general is working out the kinks in the first few games of the regular season. We didn't look flat at all to open up last season against NYG. We looked as crisp as could be on offense. We just bogged down in the redzone. Playing a few more snaps at not even full speed against generic, vanilla defenses is not going to make you become more crisp for the regular season. I'd almost say the actual practices in training camp is more intense than the preseason games.

I have an idea: Let's all rage against something that isn't going to change. On top of that, while we're complaining that the preseason is too long and is opening players to injury, we can also rail against the CBA that makes camp too easy on the players and causes teams to have to work themselves into shape in the first month of the regular season.

For good measure we can whine that Garrett is exposing players to injury in the PS games and then call him a coward when he doesn't play them. Fun, fun.

I know some starters will play a little bit... but I don't think it will be much. Honestly, I just want to see the rookies and young guys.

Moore
McFadden
Smith
Switzer
Butler
Swaim
Green
Cooper
Looney?
Bell
Collins

That's my starting lineup
Aren't Swaim and Looney limited in practice right now? I know that doesn't mean they won't play in the first PS game... but they may not.
