I am glad they took Kolb instead of Drew Stanton, they could have traded down and gotted him for cheaper... Stanton is a carbon-copy of Garcia in the West Coast offense IMO, Stanton is PERFECT for that. The Eagles would honestly be a better team if they ran that offense more. So I should be thanking the Eagles front office for that blunder.

I dont know about Kolb, was talking to my brother last night, he thinks the kid is good. he's watched Kolb play quite a bit.

Feely is not going to be long term qb for the eagles. Kolb is a propsect to develop over a few years to take over for mcnabb someday.

Still i think they could have gotten him much later in the draft.
Kolb was rising up boards, since the talent pool was so thin. And based on everything I've read, he was a solid #2 by draft time. Notice how all the QBs except for Russell dropped.

funny thing is we all said the Cowboys showed support for Romo by not drafting a QB and we ALL would have been surprised if JJ drop out of the 1st round and then took a QB with our first selection probably just Donovan is about the Eagles first selection. Just maybe it is not an ego thing but looking at ALL the needs of the team. Maybe he saw a better use of that first pick than drafting a QB.

And honestly the father did not say anything that bad so to say "he made himself look stupid" I don't get it. One thing I know as a parent I will always have my kids back no matter what it's just instinct.

I think most starting QB's would be a bit upset if their team drafted a QB with their 1st pick. How often did Dallas draft a QB with their 1st pick when Troy was here or when Roger was QB? You don't unless your plans are to replace the starting QB within the next year or 2. Donovan knows this

I've always been happy with McNabb being in Philly. He's always been a tease...seeming to be a better QB than he actually is.

He's nothing more than a good QB...he'll never be a great one. Jeff Garcia stepping in last season really demonstrated that. McNabb isn't the weakest link in the chain, but he's not what holds things together.

I think there's certainly something to the Eagles drafting a quarterback.

And given the NFL's most fragile ego, McNabb is surely sensitive to it.

If people can't see it by this point, they're not looking.

McNabb believes that he is the Eagles.

He's the franchise and can't bear the thought of anything or anyone jeopardizing that.

He couldn't take it with Owens and he couldn't take it with Garcia either.

I'm sure he views this move as a slight against him and a slap in the face.

It's also a clear sign of his football mortality.

Like any adversity, I don't expect McNabb to take this well either.

And I find it ironic that our resident Eagles trolls are nowhere to be found since draft day......

He had no issues with Garcia other than McNabb felt his Owens jokes were better than Garcia's. All the other garbage was media created, and that's the point I was making.

Owens is other story. TO just couldn't come to grips with getting told to shut up and run his routes, and he'll do the quarterbacking. That's when he gained some respect from me.

I hope Mcnabb starts to pout like during the Garcia-saga, hopefully they will get fed up... The sooner we get this guy out of this division and hopefully the Conference the better. His cap number is so huge that he can't be released, and unless he comes back as good as he was pre-injury nobody wants another culpeppper. Why the Eagles pick Kolb when they gave A.J. Feely an extension is beyond me. Stupid Eagles

I have a feeling he'll be in Minnesota eventually.

Interesting you say that... Childress may be too proud to do that, after all he passed on Quinn because he begged the Minn. front office to give up alot for T. Jackson last year. Jackson may bust, but it would take two years for Childress to try and get Mcnabb up here.

I see it going as such possibly: Childress underachieves, and as such, only has one year to turn things around ala Gruden, and Minn. front office takes Mcnabb from Eggles because Kolb proves to be a better W. Coast offense guy. Mcnabb has a career rejuvination, only to get injured again. The end.

I agree with everything he said. I wish they'd stop asking him, or he would say no comment, but everything he said is true. Nothing wrong with the truth.

Those kind of words will get you in trouble. Didn't you get the memo, do not question the great one?

Point taken, but I'm sure you wouldn't be spewing nonsense like Mcnabb's father did to the media.

Insecure McNabb and pappy are worried his job will be gone in 2-3 years?

I hope he continues to get hurt, each year!

What a stupid a** article. Good job Philly media living up to your hack job reputations. this is a non damn story. and no one hates the eagles more than I, but they need to just give it a rest already. If I weren't a Philly fan for my other sports teams, I'd just laugh it off, but I have to read garbage like this for the rest of my teams as well.

Father says his son can always find job

"I'm not concerned about [the decision to spend the first pick on Kolb]," Sam McNabb told the Daily News. "My son works for the Philadelphia Eagles right now and when he doesn't any longer, there are 31 other NFL teams he can play for."

Is that right pappy McNabb?

:trophy:

Make that 30 teams!! The Cowboys QB's don't throw up on the field in front of 20 million people!

:laugh2:

It must suck to be a Philty fan...

Overall, I don't have a problem with what he said...
Considering our search for Aikman, I understand this view. So really, I don't think he said anything all that bad. McNabb has been good for that organization.

I also understand the Eagles snagging a just in case QB as well as future trade bait.

I'm with you on this one WG. I don't really see anything wrong with his comments. McNabb has won a lot of football games in Philly but he too should know that the organization is not the most loyal in the business. Thus, why fret over what you can't control.

Why are McNabb's parents so visible in the media?? I could be wrong, but I only remember very few instances where some athlete's parents are accessible to the media. Kellen Winslow and Archie Manning come to mind. The thing is, most of the time that happens, the father is a former athlete.

So why are the McNabbs out there? They strike me as overly sensitive. I know Papa Mac didn't say a whole lot, but why did he say anything at all. At least when Winslow and Manning were talking there was some huge media feeding frenzy going on. Here?? The Eagles drafted a QB... Who cares? Why does daddy have to come to the rescue and give sonny a vote of confidence.

This just cements in my mind that McNabb is a weak individual. He pretends to be this big leader, but mommy and daddy stick up for him when the big bad media is involved. If I were him I would be telling them to muzzle it.

I liken your post to "letting the cat out of the bag".... T.O. was the first one to let the cat out of the bag IMO.

Who cares what mcnabbs dad thinks. Is it going to change anything. His dad cant be very bright, if mcnabb is not careful he really will turn that city on himself and then it really will be over.

Would have been hilarious had they traded him to oakland
