Success or failure of BP will be determinded by what you thought the goal was for hiring him.

Turned around the team? yes

Success in January? No

If we were Cleveland or Detroit the answer would probably be no is didn't fail. But it is my believe Jerry Jones hired Bill Purcells to take this team back to the super bowl. Fours years and 0-2 in Jnauary later, BP ultimately failed in his misson. Therefore I believe he failed here.

but wasn't one of Bill's priorities coming here to rebuild this franchise? he did that, so w/ that in mind, you can't call his stint here a total failure

I agree talent wise we are improved so yes from that stand point I would agree. However the end game is to go out and win and compete for championships and we failed.

regardless of the coach....if he hasn't been in charge of winning a single playoff game then it certainly isn't a success....and if its not a success...then what does that make it???

We were those teams when Bill got here. No direction, no players, Bad FO, horrible cap management. I think that of course JJ wanted Bill or any coach he hires to win the SB every year, that is the goal. But in 2002, I think JJ had a larger plan in place, he needed someone to come in and fix the cowboys. Bill did that. Now, I agree, he didn't have the success I wanted him to have, but when you look at the Cowboys Now and remember where we were 4 short years ago, what he has accomplished has been pretty amazing to me.
