Parcells after Hamlin, Adams, Barber?

Jeez, I HOPE he goes after Hamlin... overpaying for an above average FS is about the dumbest mistake you can make. Anything more than the franchise tag is worth (not saying we should franchise him, but just using that as a cost basis) would be ridiculous.

Love how this urban legend about Tuna trying to get MB3 is now accepted as fact.

I agree.

What amused me is this sentence:

The Tuna's efforts to trick Jerry into trading Marion "The Barbarian" Barber have been well chronicled.

He was?

It's no big deal...Miami won't be the only team showing interest in bargains. If you want to keep your free agents, you don't let them hit the market. Once they hit the market, almost all of them go where the money is.

If Hamlin hits the market, plenty of teams will be inviting him for a visit. If Barber isn't signed, I don't really see why we'd take Miami's top pick in the draft...if they sign him as an UFA, we probably get that #1 pick and more.

Question: Let's assume the Dolphins signed Barber once he hit the free agent market, and we put the franchise tag on him.

Would we get their No. 1 and 3 this draft or the 2009 draft?

Bill Parcells started with the Cowboys' front office, wooing personnel executives Jeff Ireland and Brian Gaine to Miami. Then he took what he wanted from the coaching staff, hiring Tony Sparano as the Dolphins' head coach and Todd Bowles, Paul Pasqualoni and Kacy Rodgers as assistants.

Now, it's on to the roster. The Tuna's efforts to trick Jerry into trading Marion "The Barbarian" Barber have been well chronicled. Don't be surprised if the Dolphins go after a couple more Cowboys' Pro Bowlers during free agency.

Miami is in the market for a free safety. Ken Hamlin wants a big contract after playing for the relative bargain price of $2 million and change last season. Hamlin also has a ton of respect for Bowles.

LT Flozell Adams is a Sparano guy, so it wouldn't be stunning if he decided to rejoin his O-line coach in Miami.

-_- stay away from the players I like, Tuna!

Trick him huh? Man, people are stupid.

I believe that we can all look for Hamlin and Barber to sign 5 year deals in the next two weeks or so, before free agency starts.

I am not sure on the Adams front. I do believe it is better than even odds we resign him but I could also see Adams going to Miami in a trade (we would franchise him first) along with several other players for a few picks (or maybe just the one pick, you know the first one).

Parcells would put Adams at LT and move Carey to LG of which Carey is better suited. Allows Parcells to draft a OL later in the draft and bring him along. Also, Sparano appartently really likes Adams, so it is a comfort level for the HC.

The question is which other players might be involved, and to my way of thinking it would be the ones Parcells drafted or ones he is most comfortable with such as Anthony Fasano (Miami needs a TE), Pat Watkins (they need a FS also), Jason Ferguson (a DT that helps his DL and with us having Ratliff and Johnson, Ferguson cap number is to high), Sam Hurd (a 3rd WR and a Parcells find), Akin Ayodele (believe that Parcells is the one that wanted to sign him at ILB), and possibly even Terry Glenn (you know he is a Parcells favorite).

It probably wouldn't come close to all of these guys, but it wouldn't surprise me to see 3 to 5 of them. Of course, if we could get the #1 overall giving all of them, I would really have to think about it, especially if we could keep our picks.

If we put a tender thing on him it would be a 1 (i don't know about the three) if they decided to offer him a contract that we didn't match and it would be their #1 this year.

If we fanchise him, something different, then it's 2 number ones if someone else signs him and we don't match. Meaning their #1 this year and then again next year.

Dallas isn't going to franchise tag him cause he's a RFA anyway, meaning they get right of first refusal in the first place. if they franchise anyone it would be Hamlin or Adams who are UFA.

I know he's retired but I wouldn't be shocked if Bill lured him out for one year.

I wouldn't be surprised either, who's going to throw the ball to him though? Beck looked horrible... then again, that entire team looked horrible.

yeah, i can see Flozell running to finish his career on a losing team.

..but I really think we need to not spend more money on the OL.

We already have 1-2 guys that Houck can take and make one of them the LT. Rookies we have drafted and had for 1-2 years getting them ready.

And if for some reason that doesn't work, we move Davis and play him at LT and plug one of the new players in at G, rotate them if necessary to get them the experience.

This has been all planned out last year when Davis was signed for about double what a G would normally sign for. He's getting paid LT money and should play the position..IMO.

Flo should go to Miami if that is what he wants.

I will not miss his false starts and drive killing penalties.

And Romo is still going to get great protection from his blind side with Anthony Davis protecting it..it's not a concern.

This was like the debate where we all pounded on the thought of LA leaving and saying the OL would collapse if he did.

It didn't. And it won't when Flo leaves this year.

We need to infuse the youth into our OL. Columbo is in his last year deal in 2008, we need to get somebody ready to possibly replace him in 2009, we have guys that need the reps to get better.

We can't pay all the players All Pro salaries at every position. Flo has had a good chunk of the salary cap for this team for awhile.

Good luck, Flo.

Take lot's of sun protection with you.

You will spending large amounts of time not playing any football in January and February playing in Miami.

You'll have the downtime.

Miami has some nice backs...Brown, Booker, and ole Ricky Williams. I don't see the need for MB3 down there.

Booker is a wideout...Barber and Brown would be a very DANGEROUS set of backs if that oline plays decent at all. Brown is probably also their best receiver.

Hamlin never played for Bill. I really don't see how Hamlin fits. Because of Bowles? I just can't see it.

It would fit if they offer him something like...5 yr 30 mill

No, they haven't. To chronicle something means to report based on fact. There has been nothing but rampant speculation about what Parcells is up to personnel-wise.

They might sign away Flozell Adams but not Barber, Hamlin or Canty....those guys will be re-signed by the start of free agency.

When did we sign Anthony Davis again? There's a lineman by that name at Rutgers I think.

Moving Bigg to LT should not be done. The Cardinals didn't fare well with it, and there's not a lot of benefit to repeating other teams' mistakes.

The knock on Davis, and by many on these forums from what I understand last year, was that he wasn't nearly productive enough at a LT out in Arizona. Now you just want to cut ties with Adams, and move Davis out to LT, cause it seems like a smart idea now?

I REALLY wish I could sell some people around here some property.

You do know that he coached him this past year right  Hamlin must have thought he did a damn good job.
