I think he failed in Dallas. He failed in Miami. He jumps ship so he doesn't have to face the music. Move on.

How can you say he failed? He left this team loaded with talent. We probably win the superbowl the next year if he stays. All wade had to do was stand on the sidelines and looked dumbfounded all year. It was parcell's team that went 13-3.

And after a ton of 5-11 seasons, he took us to the playoffs in his first year. With quincy carter at quarterback and troy hambrick at runningback. It's sad that he was able to get that team to the playoffs but this team is at 1-4

MONDAY NIGHT football mentioned he is leavin Miami.

Personally with I think if he came in as the headcoach and
kept wade and garrett as coordinators, this could work. Dallas is in bad need
of an authoritarian and Parcells knows the team already. Accountability and discipline would be immediate and respected.

What do u think?

Parcells calls departure a "leave of absence"
Posted by Mike Florio on October 19, 2010 10:58 AM ET
Though Dolphins V.P. of football operations turned consultant Bill Parcells has cleaned out his office and vacated the team's facilities, he apparently won't be setting up shop with another team soon, according to Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald.

Parcells reportedly is calling his latest move a "leave of absence," and he has left open the door to help the team prepare for the 2011 draft.

Darlington confirms that Parcells indeed is gone from the facility, even though he's saying he'll eventually be involved in some capacity with the team.
Under his current contract, Parcells can leave the team at any time, collect the balance of his pay, and go work for someone else.

He'll probably sniff around the Cowboys stadium to try to convince Jerry to bring him in as GM in some capacity ;)

Wait . . . you mean to tell me Parcells took a job and got burnt out after just a few years?

Shocking!

It hurt him too much to see Bobby Carpenter cut. He had to take time off.

My thoughts exactly. He's become the Rebuilding Guru. Puts a foundation in place and then leaves. I just wish all he did was put the foundation in place for us instead of trying to captain the ship.

Parcells absolutely cannot be counted on for more than a couple of years. Ever since he left New England, he's quit on every team. The Jets, the Cowboys, he screwed Tampa Bay royally by leaving them at the altar, now Miami.

He should just go play the ponies.

Short attention span or patience. Its very stupid to say he quit on them. He brought each franchise back to the playoffs from the very dregs of the league. He did it with the Giants, though a lot of pieces were in place already; totally rebuilt the Pats, Jets, Cowboys, then generaled the operation that took the Fins from 1-15 to 11-5 in one year. Only the blind haters can deny what he accomplished.

I really don't get why people get so bent out of shape with Parcells. This team was wretched before he took them over. Sure he missed on a few players, but I can't imagine what this group would look like if Jerry had gone straight from Campo to Wade.

.

And he left every one of those teams much better than they were before.

He is what he is. If you hire him expecting a 20 year run than its your own fault, that's not what he is about.

I can see that happening. He built a big house in Saratoga and this
team needs the likes of Bill.Like him or not,he has turned around 5 teams.
I don't believe there is anyone that can put that on a resume.
I believe you'll see Carl Peterson taking over his position with the Dolphins.

I think the Bills team would be a good fit for him as well. That fanbase is at rock bottom and they could really use something to get excited about. They are a loyal fanbase and would come back if there is some hope.

Plus, I think Parcells syle of having big, physical players fits in with the Buffalo mindset.

I don't know if Ralph would relinquish full control of player personnel but the Bills need something. They are a distant fourth in their division with teams who appear to be set for the future.

The timing of this is fishy because it happened on the exact same day that Bobby Carpenter was released.

Parcells is now a short term fix, unreliable in the long term. He bailed on the Jets almost immediately. He had a deal in place with Tampa, and reneged on it at the last moment, leaving them no reasonable candidates, since they'd counted on getting Parcells. He bailed suddenly on the Cowboys. Even the relatively easy position at Miami was too much for him.

He will take a bad team and bootstrap it up. But you can only count on him for the first year. Or if you are Tampa Bay, not even that.
