Any way after watching the all-22 I have to say that I am impressed with Parnell's progression over the year. Going back to the preseason, I remember being very concerned about his technique with his punch. Even in the Eagles game he was using one-arming over hand constantly like a boxer. You are never going to get true power that way like that and it's a good way to get illegal hands to the face or head slapping. His other issue was hesitancy and timing. His punch would come late or not at all. He was susceptible to all kinds of moves when he let people get into his pads like that.

Then you have the way he was playing against the Colts delivering two handed body blows all game long. What impressed me most was his work on stunts and blitzes. I have complained of Martin and Free over a stunt they gave up free rushers regularly in the first half of the season. DE playing 5 slants into Martin and OLB/nickel/S stunts into that A gap. If Fred is occupied and those guys gets crossed it's over. JP hits a lot harder than Free does and when Redding or whoever tried to cross his face he leveled them. Stunt was over.

His jarring two handers kept coming and by the end of the game Colts front 7 were rushing around him avoiding getting into range of his fists. That's dominance.

He is not well coordinated moving in space and struggles to reach some blocks. He makes mental errors and can be sluggish but when he is on he is a sight to see.

Good to hear! I know Free is going to miss some time so as long as Parnell continues to show this kind of progression that's really good news.

I've always like him better than Free.

I would hate to play against Parnell.. Free wouldn't be that big of a deal.

Jermey Parnell's punch is a weapon.

He is not well coordinated moving in space and struggles to reach some blocks. He makes mental errors and can be sluggish but when he is on he is a sight to see.

The question is how much better Parnell can become in all areas with starting reps in practices and games.

I've believed for the last few years that there was a huge upside with Parnell and the only way to find out is on the field.

Right now, all that matters is Washington. Parnell and the OL need to be on their games.

Dallas has a decision to make when the off-season arrives, keep Parnell or Doug Free?

Remember when Jerry said Parnell had the strongest punch on the team this off season? He's looking as prescient as ever these days.

I, in a lesser fashion than Xwalker, have been a huge Parnell proponent. He's younger, less wear and tear, gonna be cheaper, and has way more upside than Free. For the life of me, I don't understand why we haven't signed him to a 4 year extension already.

And really, if he keeps up his game against Kerrigan this week, I wouldn't be so quick to put Free back in for the playoff run. He's performed very well in his opportunities and I feel they were to quick to give Free his spot back the last time.

I'm wondering if Free will miss the rest of career in Dallas? I just don't like Free as a full time starter or consistent dominant player.

There is plenty more room on the Parnell bandwagon! I haven't rewatched the tape of the Colts game but I'm sure the OP is correct, Parnell had a good game. One thing I would nitpick is that Parnell should be compared to his 2012 play rather than this preseason, it was obviously in this year's preseason games that Parnell was playing through some minor injuries and moving at less than full speed.

I've said it for a while, Free is above average this year but overpaid. Parnell has more upside and will be much cheaper to resign, I fully expect Parnell to be the starter next year.

I don't now what will happen for the remainder of this season or during the off-season.

If Doug Free is cleared for the playoff game, I absolutely expect Jason Garrett will let him start no matter how Jermey Parnell plays on Sunday.

Free has such a gargantuan edge in experience.

But I don't know if Free's multiple ailments in his left ankle (bone spur) and foot (stress fracture) will allow him to return to the field next week or thereafter.

I'm a bigger fan of Jermey Parnell than Free, but as long as one of them is re-signed during the off-season, I'm good with it.

They should be careful with Free. Having Tony Hills as the backup for Parnell in the playoffs is worrisome. It would be better to have Free active but not starting if that increased the chances of having both him and Parnell healthy for the playoff games.

Makes sense to me.

I just expect Jason Garrett will put Doug Free out there as soon as he is given clearance by the medical staff.

Free was starting and playing with an injured left ankle and/or foot for an undetermined amount of time before it became too painful during the game in Philadelphia.

Jerry Jones discussed this during his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan on Tuesday.

EVEN IF FREE DOESN’T PLAY, DO YOU FEEL CONFIDENT HE COULD START IN THE PLAYOFFS? – Well, he’s got the kind of injury that he’s played with. And, so, this is a question of just how extreme, if anything, how extreme it is pain-wise. I think it’s something we’re just going to have to see as we go. But I just want to remind everybody he’s played with this, and he’s played with this for several games.

Don't reserve a spot on that bandwagon for me. I like Free's leadership. The OLine ain't broke, don't fix it. If Parnell was a better option he would have started long ago.
