Parson vs CB at 10

Remove all other options for sake of argument.

Parson and Surtain or Horn likely the highest rated Defensive player at 10. Most mock us to pick a CB.

I always believe player closer to the LOS makes a bigger impact. Therefore, I want Parson over a CB since neither are rebirth of Deon Sanders.

Convince me why we should take a CB at 10 instead.
I agree! Great defenses are built in the front 7. Not the back end. Drafting a CB with the 10th pick is a horrible idea. Take Parsons he would be the teams best LB.

Surtain is suppose to be the safest pick but I wonder if a 2nd round CB (deep class) can accomplish the same in our torrid secondary.

I agree, but still like the idea of Diggs and Surtain. I feel that puts them in good shape at CB.

A high end CB is harder to find. We probably wont be picking this high for a while. Even though we got a good one last year in the 2nd I see that more as a outlier situation. They are also harder to find in FA and require a high price tag if there is one. So your getting a more rare position and wrapping up that savings on a higher end position for at least 5 years. And finally the drop off with our current CB is extremely high.

However I do agree that a stud MLB like Parsons is EXACTLY what this defense needs and a stud MLB can be a game changer up the middle.

Like your rationale and explanation. Well done.

I predicted this week's ago. LBer has taken the top spot of need. Wonder how taking a year off affects him.?

Ideally he should have played to develop his instincts and LB skills since he's only got 2 years at LB position.
How an off year affects him no one knows? Several top players also took the year off but no one is moving them down the board.
We underestimate the need at LB position. 3 players with injury hx or frequent injuries as our starters.

NO need to convince you. Your right. Parsons would be the better choice. We cannot trust LVE to stay healthy. The problem is we also need a corner. We should have signed Petterson. That way we aren't pigeon holed into absolutely picking a corner at #10.

Our FA has been absolutely awful. I would give it an F.

It's stupid for us to sign backups and taking risk on previously injured players and expect them to fulfill the role.

I think Dallas will play it safe and take Surtain. They will hope a LB, DE falls to them at 44.

I can't see Parson as a top-10 pick. It's that simple.

The only one of those 3 I'd take at 10 is Surtain, but I'd be open to trade down offers.

You would be wrong my cowboy brother. We have been getting burnt by the run for the last 10 seasons. Give me a middle linebacker a defensive tackle and a strong safety. We’ve been lacking that for years

No MLBs, Safeties or DTs worthy of #10. Parsons is just a Jaylon replacement, and we have bigger fish to fry there.

First of all I like the word worthy. That’s my philosophy. Not for need you get burnt . Not even Best available. Who is most worthy. The football player the guy who wants to be here. And for me that could be the linebacker

I would be happy with Parsons or Surtain at 10. If we could trade down 4 or 5 spots, grab horn and get an extra 3rd that would be good too.

My nightmare scenario is we trade away all our premium picks to move up for Pitts while we get very little defensive help.

Just build your draft board and be true to it when the 10 pick comes around. No regrets!

I HATE the idea of a LB at 10...that said...I think Parsons is a better LB than Surtain or Horn are CBs. I like Parsons speed at the position and I think he would make a much bigger impact. We still need another CB but fixing the front 7 > back 4

I don’t know if it’s instincts he’s lacking. It still seems he’s not 100% confident after the injury. Are used to watch him in Notre Dame he’s not the same .
Jaylon is not confident because *physically* he's just not the same. Been regressing since the start of 2019.
It's a weird thing. It's there but nobody really talks about it. Every so often some sports guy obliquely refers to Jaylon's leg just not being right.

I wouldn't be adverse to trading down to take Barmore. We'd get an excellent DT and extra picks in the process.

I look at it this way. Is Stokes in the 2nd round that much different than Horn or Surtain in the first? Not the biggest fan of Parsons but I get it.

I might take Parsons before Surtain, not Horn though. The gap year is worrisome. I think Jerry wants Surtain but Horn is the more physical guy.
I think there all in on Horn. They never like the quiet guy, they always choose the mouth and it’s not a bad thing but Jaycee is a talker. FYI I prefer Horn and I don’t even think it’s close.

We certainly have desperate needs at both positions of CB and MLB.

Either one could probably enhance our defense in no small measure.

I wouldn't be sad with the results of having either Surtain or Parsons.

It's highly likely that Jerry will try like heck to get Pitts but, if no trading partner can be found he will take an OT at 10. Jerry might also trade back into the 1st round to take the
Notre Dame LB who tracks better at coverage which is the new NFL. Parsons is just a run stopping MLB.
