Good for him. I went to many sports camps as a kid and have fond memories of them. It's great to not only meet a player for the team you cheer for but also to practice and learn alongside them.
Whether or not they are the greatest player giving back to kids is one of the best things they can do since kids make up the majority of those playing. We often lose site of that and what am impact it has on them (on and off the field).
Approximately 7.5% of high school football players go on to play in college, then approximately 1.6% of them go on to play in professional leagues (not just the NFL). To act like any of them don't have the skills to pass down is as wrong as one could be.
