The can blitz. He can rush the passer from the edge. You can do so many things with him on defense. Im all about positional value, especially that high. I was grimacing at the prospect of taking either Elliott or Ramsey at 4 (remember Ramsey was considered a Safety in or Draft). However I see Parsons as a transformative player, in a system that will maximize his value. If we cant take Sewell or get good value for team looking for a QB, Im all for Parsons

A combination of Parsons and Marvin Wilson Florida State defensive tackle would be intriguing. Wilson could fall to the top of the 2nd round. I still say follow the money. The Joneses are drafting a cornerback with the first pick.

It's going to be a tough call if we're anywhere in the top 5. Based on early rankings/gradings it's looking like the worst defensive draft I can remember if you're looking for a so-called top 5 can't miss defensive blue-chipper. Think about it, the highest-rated defensive player currently is ILBer who hasn't played since 2019. Of course, there's Farley and Surtain but let's be honest, nothing about either player suggest dominant can't miss talent. Hell, as strange as it may sound, let's say we sitting at #5 and can't find a trading partner, it's very possible the BPA route could very be a WR or TE. Of course, you can overdraft or reach for the next best defensive player.
I know many will say trade back but that's not as simple as it sounds. Sure teams would like trade back BUT nothing's a sure thing. Come draft day, your only guarantee is you keep your pick, meaning you HAVE to be prepared to make a selection. Luckily, we still have a ways to go before this is played out and who knows, maybe after the college postseason games and combines we'll see a couple more D players move up.

Say all the QB's and Sewell are off the board, Parsons would be the best player available, unless they go Detroit and take another WR, lol.

We heard the team had major interest in Murray from Okla in last year's draft as they thought he could do it all, even rush the passer. I didn't like the prospect, cause read too many times he lacked instincts for the position. Sounds like Jaylon Smith. I am reading the opposite about Parsons, he has all the same athletic traits with legitimate instincts.

I understanding the positional value, but if there is a legitimate playmaker that can improve this defense, they have to consider drafting him. If they were looking at Murray, it suggests they are at least interested in adding another high-level linebacker.

We heard the team had major interest in Murray from Okla in last year's draft as they thought he could do it all, even rush the passer. I didn't like the prospect, cause read too many times he lacked instincts for the position. Sounds like Jaylon Smith. I am reading the opposite about Parsons, he has all the same athletic traits with legitimate instincts.

I understanding the positional value, but if there is a legitimate playmaker that can improve this defense, they have to consider drafting him. If they were looking at Murray, it suggests they are at least interested in adding another high-level linebacker.

They also really liked Patrick Queen.

I think it will be Sewell. We have so much invested in our offense. Dak, Elliot, Cooper, and two other fantastic wideouts ..... but I’d you can’t get them the ball because of the offensive line, and zeke can’t get 4.0 yards a carry.... you are just wasting money.

While I agree. We have ignored the defensive side of the ball too long. We get Sewell its not going to stop other offenses from putting up 40 points.

The kid is a stud. We would be stupid to pass on him. At 3 no. In a small trade down to accumulate more picks. 100 percent all day every day. He is the leader this defense has needed for years

I think some people just view the off ball LBr as a "non premium position" and it's too early to take one so early. I agree to an extent, but I think Parsons is a legit blue chip prospect and the best defender in the class by a wide margin. I'd have zero issues taking him in the top 5. I think you can build a defense around him.

I think everything has to be taken into context.

On balance, I would take a stud DE/DT over a LB, but there isn’t a blue chip prospect coming out this year (at least that we know of now).

Surtain and Fairley are nice prospect but I’m not overdrafting them in the Top 10, et cetera.

If Jaylon could rush the passer off the edge I would consider it. I think Jaylon is not big like Aldon and Gregory so it would not work. Jaylon would get destroyed on off tackle plays. I don’t think Parsons is better then Jaylon now so it would be a wasted pick. We just have too many holes on defense to take weak side linebacker no matter how dynamic he is. He would be perfect for the Football Team in Washington.

My fear with LB is they get banged up and don’t last long. Not to mention they aren’t the first or last line of defense. Trade back and get a CB or DT

These are things the team needs to evaluate. Everything I have read thus far is Parsons the best defensive player in the draft and it's not even close. This defense needs difference makers, if Parson is an elite talent they need to consider taking him.
