I thought the whole reason behind the 3-4 was to pressure the QB? Our pass rush is as horrid as ever. unless there is a full scale blitz, we have almost no chance of pressure. Is it lack of talent, poor coaching or just not grasping the scheme?

Coaching and I won't say names, but his intitials are MIKE ZIMMER

were top ten in sacks in the league I cannot find the stats for pressures.

most QBs are not like Bledsoe and get rid of the ball when they see pressure.

A side note is that we are also top ten in interceptions. Might be related.

Perhaps it is a huge influx of rookies and vet FA's who have never played together before trying to learn a new scheme being lead by Zimmer the village idiot.

usually four wont get great pressure anywho, couple that up w the fact that alot of our dlineman are geared more towards the run(spears, furgy, coleman) we should try to bring 5 more often sometimes we are only rushing 3 which may get it done vs a high school team

it's inexperience, the coaches are trying not to overload them, they're keeping it simple, but once they get acclimated, we'll start seeing exotic blitz packages, the norm for successful 3-4 Ds, have patience

As a poster above wrote, while we aren't the best at pressuring the QB, we have five INTs already this year, we didn't get to that total until what, game 10 or 11 last year?

Everytime I watch another game I see teams devising blitzes where people are running free at the QB. Whether its an overload or just confusion on the Oline that leads to a missed block. I see it every week in pretty much every game except from Dallas' defense. I wish they would stop blitzing Dat he just runs into the olinemen, I have yet to see him use his quickness to avoid a blocker and make a play in the pass rush. I guess what Im saying is I think its part scheme and part personnel. I love DAT he has been great vs the run and solid in coverage but he sucks at rushing the passer. When you blitz you either have to cause confusion or win a one on one matchup and I dont think Dallas does enough of either one.

Dat is a terrible blitzer

we need to run more blitzes like the one we ran vs washington where ware and roy overload the right side and roy came on free

I think you were thinking of the Campo days of the Cowboys.

And if you payed attention to the Cowboys games you would have seen a few plays where Roy for example has had a clear path.

I really think that some people wouldnt be happy unless we had two guys with a clear path to the QB. All this talk of our pass rush sucks and whatever else is completely disregarding our production which is top ten in the league.

They really looked like a top 10 defense today, sorry your right. I dont know what Im talking about and I am making stuff up. Like Ratay passing for 269 yards (272 total in prev 2 games) and 3 TDs and the Niners rushinig for 5.6 yards a carry (3.7 the prev 2 games). They might get a sack here and there but the blitz has not been nearly as effective as it should be. Thats my opinion sorry if you dont like it.

I will say it again, the first two games we were blitzing on most every play, and Brees and Brunell were constantly harrassed. But then came the dreadful 4th quarter of the Wash game and no more blitzing, no more pressure, and two quick bombs to doom us.

In today's game, no blitzing and Rattay looked the second coming of Joe Montana. I too thought that the purpose of the 3-4 was to blitz from different angles and cause havoc. I think someone needs to tell this to Zimmer.

Ok if your going to say it again I will say it again too. The blitz is not as effective as it needs to be. There we both said it twice now what? Its easy to throw out blanket statements that we blitzed the first 2 games etc.. If I remember correctly SD scored 24 points and 3 TDs not exactly a stellar defensive performance and Washington's offense just plain sucks so I dont take much solice in shutting down what is probably the second or third worse offense in the NFL. Dallas is on pace to have 32 sacks this season they had 33 last year!
