picking a head coach because you really want him to be your defensive coordinator could also be a brutal mistake.

What I have read about Ron Rivera is that he is a knowledgeable, hungry, aggressive coach just itching for a HC job. He would be a perfect fit for the Cowboys HC IMO. Did you see what the Chicago defense did to the Saints. Forget the retread coaches everyone is talking about.

I don't agree that we need an offensive guru to be HC. If Romo can't cut it put him on the pine and find a QB who can continue to put the points on the board.

while i agree rivera is a good coach, but what makes u think dallas could do the same thing to the saints? they(bears) do have a serious amount of PLAYMAKERS. while dallas is still stuck on POTENTIAL.

Bring in Rivera or Phillips and keep Sparano as OC. I would either draft a rookie QB at some time or sign Damon Huard in the offseason just as a precaution.

Obviously, you know I agree since I posted that article on him. I have read other articles saying the same thing.

Honestly, the last time I have heard anyone give an assistant this much praise in regards to intellectual ability and teaching was Andy Reid!

What's funny is that no one was saying that in the preseason this past year. Everyone said how our defense was loaded with playmakers.

I think we have a lot of talent on defense that just hasn't been exploited to its fullest potential

You have to consider the fact that he is running Smiths defense and using Smiths philosophies, who knows what we are going to get once the apprentice leaves the master.

You could just as easily say he is running Dungy's defense since Dungy was Lovie's mentor. Obviously, every coordinator gets their start somewhere. And why would he start adopting an entirely different philosophy once he leaves? That makes no sense. Coordinators bring the same philosophy they had success with at their previous team.
