Patience for Viliami Fehoko

He is destined to be stashed on the IR.
What happened? I been traveling and been busy. Have not seen all the news. Still trying to catch up on everything.

I always thought if he did make the 53. Which he probably would, because this team likes to keep their draft picks.
He would be inactive game days anyway. So yeah IR stash possibly.

Thing is if he goes to IR before the final cuts, he is gone for the season. Or do thy cut a player, he makes the 53. They then move him to IR, and bring back the player that was cut, if he was not claimed by another team. Then he would be on short term IR.

He was always more of a future pick type anyway.

So Fehoko was drafted as a try hard guy. Productive but not a great athlete. Played with edge. Big enough to play inside or out. A tough rotational guy on a roster lacking tough guys. Never supposed to be a star. Why is everyone dunking on him? Guy is hurt. There is no doubt he will get stashed away and that is a good thing.

I thought so at first too. But then I think of the impact of weakening a team when you’re trying to contend.
If they are looking for a spot to keep Land, I'd look at dumping Dante Fowler.

I should've tempered my expectations it's just that we draft really well in the 4th round so I just assumed he would contribute immediately.
This year's 4th round is the equivalent of most 6th-7th rounds. I think that perspective should make it a lot more palatable lol

Also, pick 129 is, by the math, a 5th-round pick. Splitting hairs I guess, but comp picks screw up the math.

If they had to I guess, but Fowler is still a quality contributor.
IMO, Fowler is a JAG with limited upside. He is who he is - he can get you 6 or so sacks, but is a zero against the run, and is not a huge factor against top OTs. Land at least has upside going for him, and is cheaper against the cap. I'd make my move here. Can understand some wanting to keep Fowler, but I would move on.

It's a tough decision putting a guy on the 53 who hasn't practiced much, but Junior is back now, so maybe he can show his worth. The DL group is loaded, so they need to know about this guy.

I think Armstrong stays because he plays STs too. Fowler would be the trade bait at DE. While, Gallimore would be available at DT.

Fehoko is Quinn’s 3 tech project, what DE’s we do/don’t have under contract next year has nothing to do with him.

Jr. Fehoko will be Injured Reserve I think at first. So we can stash him.

I think you’re shortchanging Fowler a bit.

“JAG’s” don’t get you 6 sacks in a rotational role.

Land is definitely cheaper.

Dorance Armstrong didn't become a real contributor until his 3rd season.

OK...I looked up Chad Hennings stats to refresh my memory. Not a bad career.

But again there is no logical connection between Chad and Fehoko. None.
The "logical connection" is having 4 guys ahead of him on the depth chart, so that even though he might be a very good player, he won't see a lot of playing time his 1st year or two on the team.
