Patience is bitter but it’s fruits are sweet

It’s been 8 yrs bro, the dam fruit has fallen off the tree and is covered in mold by now.

I can’t believe some of you guys still think we are going to win something under Garrett.

No coach in NFL history has sucked for 8 years then started making deep playoff runs and winning titles with that same team.

You guys think Clappy is going to be the first?

Hasaaaaaabaaaaaaaaahaaaaaa, ok, sure. I will play along.
Watching Coach Garrett learning curve on the job has been painful for sure, however, per pro football reference has Jason currently ranked as the 69th all time in the win column with 67 wins. Only one other coach one the list has more wins than Garrett with only 8 years as Coach (currently listed) Blanton Collier with 76.
Jimmy J.: 80 wins in 9 yrs
John Harbaugh: 94 wins in 10 yrs.
Sean Peyton: 105 wins in 11 yrs.
Dave Wanstedt: 82 wins in 11 yrs.
Wade Phillips: 82 wins in 12 yrs

If we went 8-8 over the next three years (which is nothing to write home about but is par for the course with us) Garrett would move up to around 63rd in 2018, 54th in 2019, and 49th in 2020. Thats all time mind you. Now I get that people love to bash on him and I don't think he is all that...but his record does seem to indicate that he is better many on here want to give credit for.

I've gotten married, built two houses, had three kids, put one in college, witnessed the dawn of the internet, the worldwide takeover of the smartphone, the very creation of this message board and social media in totality, watched four presidents get sworn in, two of which served two full terms.....since the last time the Cowboys played in an NFC Championship Game.

My patience is thin.

you can try to blow smoke about patience all you want about the dallas cowboys but they are in the bottom half of the league and have been now for several years with the cowboys I don't expect much so I wont be disappointed any one that is expecting playoffs and a playoff run for this franchise is going to be really disappointed

And the pity party continues. Why ***** about the past? Can't change it.
No...I'm talkin about the here and now. When examining the division, and the rosters as of today, it simply looks like we are a B league team compared to the rest of the teams. The way we handle our roster is a sham. Dumpster diving for scraps hasn't worked...coupled with rooks. Why cant we find a happy medium? The elite clubs do,why not us? We shouldn't be pitied...we should be considered a team in rebuild mode. Last year it was the db's...this year it will be the LB'S and wideouts more than likely. History says when you do that you always have a lull where you simply need time to improve and get better. We are in the midst of that now. The only question will be,how long of a lull will it be?

The Cowboys fans are intelligent and deserve much better than mediocrity. Garrett has gotten better, but still not adequate. He's essentially a NFL Europe coach. We have descended since 2014.

Cowboys fans are some of the most ignorant NFL fans ever. Have you read some of the takes here?

I will agree last yr was a rebuild of the db's, but not necessarily with the lb's this yr. By that philosophy, every team that has to replace starters due to FA would be in rebuild mode. Since Garrets arrival, We have rebuilt the OL, have and are working to improve the DL, completely changed the DB's, transitioned from one Franchise QB to Dak. I think our "lull" was the 3 8-8 years. We have done have done all of this (rebuilding) while still being relevant (in the playoff hunt or close-1 game away, minus the 4-12 year which I blame completely on the coaching staff for not handling the back up QB position better). One awful year in 7 full years as a coach, with a 62-50 record...I rate us as C+ - B- for 2011-13, F for 2015, and B+ to A- for 2014,16 and 17.

The fruits are sweet for Jerry and crew who reap massive profits for fielding a mediocre team year after year.
It begs the question, is that the bottomline for JJ these days, profits? I think the post Jimmy Johnson era says YES.

Winning is desired,no doubt...but its clearly an afterthought as long as he gets the accolades and reaps the profits of the brand.

I credit Will McClay for much of the draftees he has landed...Garrett is a clip board holder of sorts. Good guy...just not a great coach. The next HC will have to be a leader of men...no slogans needed...no catch phrases...just actions. Kris Richard,IMO...will be the HC in waiting. He has a presence. He simply gets respect without sayin a word. He has a proven method to his madness. That hire may be the best free agent move we made in years.

I see there’s not much patience. It’s true what they say about the new generation being all about “me, me, me” and wanting instant gratification.
New generation I wish I'm old , Patience heck I want an impact player on defense so we stand a chance of stopping people at the end of tight games .
Lilly , White , Haley Need a difference maker on the Dline to pressure and close out games . We cant coach around it and have watched the Eagles transform there team in record time bolster there Dline rotation while we stand in cement continuing to have to pay Romo and not be involved in FA.

Screw Patience I want DOOMS DAY!!! and we got May Day!!!!

Patience, it's coming.

Ye should not get panties in wad, unless short time, and throw in towel for the season just because lame *** Cowboys FO, your opinion, hasn’t done much yet. Yet be thy key word. The fruit will be sweet in the end.

Sure, we'll all wait another 20 years for this team to be relevant on the field again...

Certainly doing it his way is the most important thing of all to him. His own words affirm that.

And he's in such a position as even when he fails - and he fails a lot - he can't actually fail.

Cowboys don't win on the field? They still win off the field and he makes a ton of money. Half of the TV revenue - almost half the cap - goes in the owner's pocket each year, the players get that other half to share. All of the merchandise sales, anything with a star on it, goes to him. As well as the profits from the stadium, as well as those from several other stadium arrangements he profits from.

He can't lose. Even when he does.

It should not be a rebuild. Why have all that money tied up in a great offensive line. Talent-wise I believe this team can compete with anyone. It is the JV coaching staff that holds it all up.

Cowboys fans, not to mention the GM, have been overestimating the talent on the roster for years. No speed in the passing game and a bunch of JAGs on defense - who in the world would be intimidated by the cross-your-fingers-and-hope-they-force-a-field-goal Cowboys defense?

Granted, a coaching philosophy rooted in 1992 doesn't help but the roster isn't all that either. Don't kid yourself, Stephen Jones.
