Are there anymore players worthy of a tryout? Cowboys need to use their UDFA scouting prowess to unearth these small school gems as tryouts. One guy that intrigues is Georgetown's Dustin Wharton (5'11 220 4.6) who is football playing fiend without a traditional position. More of a hybrid DE/WILL/SS type. But Wharton is explosive (34 vert), instinctive, powerful (34 reps) and a ball separator (will knock the snot out of you). More explosive than fast but fits the mold of fast thinking & playing that Marinelli and Kiffin preach about.

I am sure there are other Patmon types still out there.

I think we have a boat load of SS on this team we need to find FS

There are Patmon type players at FS, I just brought up Wharton because I like hard hitting playmakers, regardless of position. Couple of FS prospects I thought would be available in UDFA were OSU Christian Bryant and Western Kentucky's Jonathon Dowling. Dowling was a FLA transfer with size, speed & production (6'3 200 4.4 plus 5 INTs in 2013 & 6 INTs in 2012) while Bryant is short (5'9 200) but long on leadership, versatility & range. Both taken in the 7th. Texas Tech DB Tre Porter has played corner & safety and has decent size (5'11 200) and very good speed (4.4 40). Mississippi State FS Nickoe Whitley is still available but is coming off ACL injury, has size (6'0 205 4.5), loves to hit & owns school INT record (15 for career), just has a knack for turnovers.

UTEP pass rusher Horace Miller is undersized (6'0 240) but explosive (38 vert & 10'10" broad) and has speed to burn (4.4 40). Florida A&M and All-MEAC LB Brandon Denmark is an Illinois transfer with good size & speed (6'3 245 4.6) and crazy explosion (40 vert & over 11' broad).

I'm surprised that he has not been signed by somebody. His forty was not great (4.66) but his ten (1.56) and agility measurables were decent.

His official measurements were: 5'10-1/4", 207

I thought that they might sign that RB they had in for a tryout. The guy that said some coaches dissed him.

This player has been invited to the Ravens camp. Not sure if he is going to get signed.

Another safety that is a freakish athlete is Dartmouth's Garrett Waggoner. He was the star of the Super Regional Combine and had a rookie camp invite with the Lions and supposedly did well against Ebron.

Wharton went to the Ravens camp and hurt his foot. MRI was apparently negative. (info from his twitter)

Could be they want to evaluate who they have now, see them in OTA's, then go from there. I'm sure there is a list of players they would want to look at. Unsigned players as well players on other teams they are waiting to see if they are released. Maybe he's on that list. But liked the other players better for whatever reasons at the time.
