He says Cowboys coaches are basically calling Dez dumb by saying he doesn't know the playbook. Are they still "saying" that? Did they ever say it? I haven't heard it from a coach. I just hear media and fans say he doesn't know the playbook. Crayton also talks Romo and has an interesting take on the offensive play calling.

Listen to it, he did not say Dez is dumb. The main points were:

http://dcfanatic.com/?p=9380

1. Players not playing hurt, they seem to comfortable in the trainers room.
2. Missing a FB
3. The Cowboys don't move Dez around to avoid double teams.
4. The coaches have not put Tony in a position for success.
5. Rely on the pass way too much.
6. Said it doesn't matter who calls the plays, they need a new OC
7. What is Garrett better at-walk-around or an OC = He said neither
8. Said the next HC needs to be one to light into the players arses.

Whether anyone likes or dislikes Crayton, it is hard to dispute his point of view.

I don't think PC ever liked JG at all. So it's very interesting to hear what he thinks about JG. I think JG has ruined Romo's promising career and that's pretty sad if you ask me.

I liked Crayton actually. He was a player with the mind of a fan as well. Granted he had his moments but I thought he was a solid number 3.

I like him, too. I don't love him, because he does have a big mouth, and does say some dumb things (the $180M comment, for example), but he has heart, and he played his way from a roster afterthought to a legitimate #2. And being a former QB, he was a smart player, too. But he made his own bed siding with TO against the OC and HC-in-waiting. I don't feel bad for him for punching his own ticket out of Dallas.

What does dez need to know in the slot? Lol miles and Beasley don't seem to do anything special route wise themselves. Keep being a clown Garrett, I don't like you anyway.

Is this a serious question?

Maybe looking bad at the time it was probably the right side to go with, against JG. Many of us fans have done the same. Meh. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess.

You fans didn't lose a lucrative career in order to do it. All you had to do was jump to some conclusions and blow off a little frustration.

I was wondering about that. Wondering if he could have been referring to the previous contract in addition to this new one.

Ah. Maybe that was it. Too lazy to do the math, but it's at least a lot closer. It doesn't really change his point, though. Just amusing to hear him almost double the number.

My role isn't to curb baiting of posters into discussions with other posters. I make sure those discussions stay within the rules of the forum. So long as everybody stays within the guidelines, everybody is ok.

And I think we can all handle my opinion that a group of our regular posters likes to jump to conclusions. And that they--most of us really--blow off some frustration from time to time. We have a Rant Zone for a reason. Neither of those positions are dangerously close to violating anything.

Now, if you don't agree it's going on, you can always challenge the assertion and we can discuss it. The conclusion we were discussing in this case was whether or not it was smart of Patrick Crayton to take on Jason Garrett back when Jason was his offensive coordinator. My contention is that it was a bad career move for him. You?

I never thought Crayton was worth the money they paid him.

But then I may be jumping to conclusions.

He just wants his name on the news wire. He needs to move on from football. He took part in that '07 collapse vs the Giants. He has no room to talk.

I'm not talking about Dez, just in general but If a player doesn't know the playbook, it doesn't necessarily mean he is dumb, he could be lazy as well, or combination of both.
